The question is can Wayne claim his Broncos cheque if he coaches Souths?

If he tries, it will be another drama for both sides. I reckon Wayne expects the Broncos to be in the top 4 this year, no other reason why he would hang on.

Save the tears for Bennett, this is how he wanted it.

Backed the Broncos into a corner to force a sacking, probably wasn't answering phone calls so they'd have to issue his termination notice in such a way so he would garner sympathy.

If Wayne Bennett was forcing the Broncos to sack him so he could get a payout, it backfired brutally.

In stark contrast to Bennett’s exit in 2008, when the Broncos granted him a release so he could join St George Illawarra in a largely amicable departure, the club sacked the mastercoach on Sunday via voicemail.

Bennett made it clear more than two months ago the club would likely have to sack him to shift him when he famously told reporters: “I made it easy for them last time, I’m not doing it this time.”

When Bennett declared on Friday that he was staying put in 2019, many reporters suggested he was forcing the Broncos to fire him so they would have to pay out the final year of his contract.

But it has now emerged that because Bennett breached his contract by contacting South Sydney players about his plans for 2019, the Broncos won’t have to pay him the $900,000 he was reportedly owed.

No sympathy for Bennett at all from me.His actions were disgraceful and seems typical of the way he operates(everything is about him).He will now be at a club with people in charge who have the same attitude as he does in richo and the phone chucker.
