Best Balmain/Wests/West Tigers team

I do have to say I loved how often Benny would strike at the ball when the opposition were playing the ball. Lots of new league fans missed out on some rules I used to love. The other one was the quick tap with no marker.

Gee how good could Dwyer of been.

I reckon any team that doesn't have Tommy Raudonikis as no.7 isn't a fair dinkum team imo.

What? Better than Greg Oliphant? Never!!

You'll have to remind me when Greg Oliphant played for
Balmain/Wests/Wests Tigers @Tiger-Steve.

Greg Oliphant played for Balmain in 1979/80 and was selected as the QLD Origin half in the 1st game ever played

I certainly remember Oliphant being a great half back, but which no. 7 came out on top in that game?.

Surprised no magpies stalwarts have not mentioned John Elford -far better forward than some of the plodders people have selected

Maybe cause they weren't even born or saw him play...I know for me my serious interest in RL started in 1975 when I was 9..

8 Harvey Howard

Good call.

I knew when he was snubbed by Wayne Pearce, only to get signed by Wayne Bennett, that we were in some strife.

I was at that game, at Campbelltown. I bought a game-attending season ticket to that year, even though I lived in Canberra. I only got to about 5 or 6 home games, though I tried to get to more.

Ellis, arguably our best 2nd rower!

Without a doubt the best forward we have had as a joint entity

Just remembering some of those great names- don’t we have a great history of terrific fullbacks. The last 4 decades or so we’ve had guys like Alan McMahon, Dorahy, Jack, Brasher, Hodgsen, Teddy. Come to think of it we’ve had great centres and wingers as well- what the hell happened to that??

I can’t split Tommy Raudonikus and Gary Freeman? We don’t see 7’s like them these days, I guess because the forwards are much bigger lol

Don't you guys remember Scotty Gayle...he was pretty good..he has passed away in the last few years from an illness but was a good player in the day..Mick Neil was handy as well...

He was a slightly better than average player....wouldn't make the 3rd XIII of best all time players
