When are the Tigers going to offer him an extension? He is and has always be a gun. Gets over the advantage line, sticks with tackles, never drops the pill & can pop a pass. Should be starting in the front row with Woods. If we don't wrap him up soon another club will get him. If we are to grow as a team, then it is vital he gets a run on spot and re-signs for a few years.

Funny how he peforms when he is due for a contract extension. Don't be fooled.

And who doesn't Milky?

I'm fooled - I would extend his contract.

I think its funnier that when our top prop has been out, and he finally started to get bigger minutes he has outplayed our most experienced prop. He stepped up to the plate big time for us.

You have knocked him all year Milky. I understand that you couldnt see this coming, but now its here, he is delivering consistantly, and the smart money is he is going to make a fool of your statements for a long time to come.

Yep I like Ava's more recent performances. He was lazy last year though. It's a tough call. Sign him and risk him dropping back a gear again.

Let's face it, he hasn't played that many games like the last two!

He is still very young for a prop. Lots of growth to come.

I've said this before, I think he is the ideal first rotation prop, or starter during rep season. I don't know if he can take his game to the next level a la Woodsie, but Ava does most things right and often gets quick PTB because he doesn't get flipped.

He's had probably 4-5 ordinary games in the last 1.5 years, but most of his games are pretty strong.

I think his good form has co-incided with his increased game time.

Last 2 games he has got over 50 mins he has looked great, close to our best.

b4 that he was averaging less than 30.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to perform consistently but 2 beast games dont cut it for me.

Bingo. He is clearly fitter this year and his workrate is excellent. I would definitely extend his contract.

Keep studying the game Milky. Until the last couple of weeks Ava has had buggerall gametime. Now that he's finally getting the minutes he deserves we are seeing the benefits of his increased fitness because his workrate is first class.

Not sold on him. I did not think he was that great last night. It was Tapau who dented the line, and to a lesser extent Lodge. I am actually disappointed with Ava so far, hope he proves me wrong because Manly certainly did not have a problem with him on the field.

I told u all when you said he was crap that he was a gun and now that he has had more than 10 bloody minutes he is showing it.

Agree 100%

I totally agree that his current form is worthy of a contract and I am as happy as anyone that he is playing so well - def one of my favourites.

But my question is why he didn't seem intent on making a better impact during the smaller minutes he was playing? Was he not happy with it? Was he unable to provide impact? There certainly was a long period this season where he was barely worthy of a bench spot and he didn't even look interested, I found that most disappointing so Milky has a point I reckon.

Seen this before many times, it always surprises me that players get legs when the contract needs renewing, I would be very suspect of someone that performs one way for a long period of time then for a small period puts his hand up .If the club has to resign these guys why not test the open market ? Money's money!

Ava is an intelligent gentle giant type, and I think up until recently he got caught up trying to play a too cerebral game and didnt realise how big and powerful he is. His new form actually coincided with a game his father came to watch, and like most Poly boys with the big emphasis on family, went out there to put a show on for his old boy. I think it may have been a light bulb moment for him.

Even in his short stints he was doing alot of things well, often found his front so enabled good ruck speed, he was never shy of work, he just seemed to over think contact with ball in hand rather than testing if the defenders could deal with his power.

I think playing with Woods threw him off a little. The freakish success Woods has playing that cerebral angles and weight shift on contact had Ava overthinking.

People will laugh, but I see alot of Petero in Ava, on a few levels. People forget that the angry props come on early, they just catch the ball and hit it up with little sense of self preservation. The intelligent classier type of props dont usually peak until their mid to late 20's.
