BIG signing coming soon

Look if it is Barba and I'm thinking it is then he brings an ex-factor that we just don't have

He has made the finals in the last 5 NRL seasons he has played in with 3 different clubs - he has won a premiership and made another grand final.

He has won a Dally M Medal in 2012 and was 10th in the Dally M in 2016 when he was the premiership winning fullback.

He also creates tries and creates linebreaks - at both the Dogs and the Sharks he was the key attacking force really - he didn't have halves that were breaking the game open points wise a lot of it came off him.

I want Lolohea to do great but like everyone I wonder if he is a) fit enough and b) able - I hope he is but with Barba you know on field he will do the business

Why wouldn’t he be fit? Please don’t say it’s because he’s chubby.

Let me commit to you all, if I ever find out from someone "in the know" about a potential signing, I will name the player and not have this 18-page waste of time where we all guess about the focal point of a totally unsupported rumour.

I don't care if this is legit or not, stop playing games with your info, it's tiresome.

It seems to be a fun topic for most on this forum.
I personally found things bit slow lately.
This certeanly woke us up a bit.

At last focussing on building a strong squad for this season.

What do you mean? It’s pretty much what was done for the majaority of last season.

Barba now - more useful for our chances in 2018 - than:entering into bidding wars for more preferred options that may never eventuate.
If legit - he strengthens a position we have a question mark over now - and we can still target players for next year.
If you dont rate him then naturally I wouldnt expect you to agree.

The signing is for 2019.

If this pans out the way the Tigers want and the NRL approve the move back, then it will be for this year. That's a big IF though.

NRL have stated they will not block his return has to show up as display he’s a changed man. As long as snowflakes aren’t falling form His nose he will be sweet to return.
We need speed badly in the backline perhaps he can be our dealer.

If it is Barba, the good news is that if he doesn't perform, we can just spike his drink, trigger a lifetime ban and cut the contract

That's the same when Suli left, the forum woke up from the off season slumber.

Ahh, taking a leaf from the Roo$ter$ playbook – Uncle Nick tells us that will clear $2-3million cap we can spend on a couple of rep players.

You would think being a Centre short we would be looking for a quality Centre.

Well if you sign Barba to play fullback you get a quality centre in Lolohea.

As for Lolohea at fullback he has all offseason to prove himself to Brett Hodgson and Ivan Cleary to quality fullbacks and they are still chasing Ben Barba and RTS so perhaps he isn't up to scratch because those 2 would be some of the best judges of FBs in the game

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I was under the impression that Tui signed with us because he could play in the halves or fullback positions,I seem to have read somewhere that he didn't like playing in the centres..

I'll throw in my suggestion, massive could mean he's a big guy, game changer could be changing codes, not half clues but only full could mean he was a fullback, I'm going to put my money on Israel Folau. This to me would be a great signing for the club, add some real spark to the backline.

lol some people are reading too much into 'hidden messages' that aren't even there.

HALF clues?

BACK in the day I may have given FULL clues but not anymore.

Clear and simple translation, and the only real clue - fullback turned halfback.

So you reckon it's Ben Barba?

Fits the bill, doesn't he.

Not sure of their contact status, but also:

Milf
Widdop (though he recently re-signed from memory?)
Norman
Walker

If it is Barba doesnt he have to serve a 12 game suspension for using cocaine before he can play anyway?

been answered before ..St helens signed him in july last year after his failed stint in french rugby…He served the suspension last years SL season..it's why he is playing straight up now for the Saints over there..

Its already been confirmed that the thread is about Barba. Why some people are still speculating about who else it could be I have no idea.

While I agree he's looking the most likely, lets not make outrageous comments like it's confirmed it's about anyone… when it's not.

Just cause SG said Barba had a lot to do with the Sharks premiership, doesn't mean he's not stringing people along, as per.

Hate that I've participated in this and gave SG what he's after

The more I think about Barba, the more I like it. Wouldn't be the price of some of the fullbacks going around, already knows jreys game, can cover halves if needed, reduces key man risk in Tui and having a proven fullback will encourage more signings like N Cleary.

The only thing is the timing. I think Tui has the potential to be better than barba, so hopefully pascoe and cleary are giving barba no guarantees to start.

In a year or two, a spine of

1\. Tui/Barba
6\. Jrey
7\. Cleary
9\. Liddle

Looks good to me.

Barba is a has-been that will be wheelchair bound by 2019, much like Michael Gordon (but he could kick goals). Barba would be a 1 year proposition for this year only, not next year when he qualifies for Meals On Wheels.
