Biggest Team in the NRL in 2012?

I was just looking at some stats, and I knew that Adam Blair was big, but according to wikipedia he's 112kgs! Looking at our team for next year we are massive. I think on overall weight our top 17 would have to be one of the biggest in the comp. Also i expect guys like Groat, Woods, BMM, Ayshford, Grant to bulk up over the off season. Is there a bigger team going around than this one? Surely the days of our forward pack getting pushed around are over…

Blair is not 112kg, he's a similar weight to Ellis, about 106-107kg. A few of those weights you have are inaccurate too. Reddy is easily up around the 100kg mark while Heighno has been hovering around 98kg for the last couple of years. Fulton is around 90kg, not 86kg.

The Tigers definitely have some decent size spread across the field though.

I had my photo taken with Benji two weeks ago. I weighed 91kg and he isn't much smaller than me.

Fair enough, but IMO a lot of the weights stated in this thread are exaggerated.

Knowing our luck the NRL will change the rules in Feb and light, fast teams will benefit!!

Biggest isn't always best btw, how many times in recent years have we heard about Souths or Parra's 'monster pack" etc?

Funny I wouldn't have thought Blair and Ellis were the same size
I would of thought that Ellis was actually bigger than Blair weight wise

I agree Happy, their playing weight and size from last year were very similar, but to look at the two Ellis looks taller and bigger than Blair. Very deceiving.

It isn't necessarily the forward back that lets Souths or Parramatta down. Its the lack of strike players in the outside backs and a set of decent halves.
The added muscle up front should lay a decent platform for our backs to run riot off next year, can only be good for us.

I got the numbers from the tigers website or wikipedia. Not sure where else would be more reliable for the figures?

Anyway, the point is that we no longer have a small pack and shouldnt get pushed around by bigger teams like we have in the past. We should now have the size, strength and mobility in the forwards to match anyone as well as plenty of strike power in the backs. No excuses for 2012.

From my eye…...Woods/Groat/Galloway.....well over 110 kegs each.

Ellis about 105.

Id say Rhino and Blair about 103.

Liam isnt the midget peeps think he is,id say about 98.

And Lawrence has to be 100......he is a tank.

The team isnt light,they have beef,but now we have some real height about us.All our pack is tall which increases our offloads,and our backs are huuuge,with the inclusion of Reddy and Grant,we have height all over.

Tuquiri,Molzen,Grant,Reddy,Lawrence,Ayshford.......wow there is some tall timber there.

Ps.......im six foot one and ive stood next to Moltzy and he was taller than me which surprised!

We may well have the tallest team in the comp!

It's good to have some size after years of having what was considered to be one of the smaller teams in the comp but at the end of the day, its not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog or in this case, the fight in the magpie/tiger. The game is about attitude to use the skills and attributes to win as much as physical size.

There isnt many NRL Footballers running around under 90kg these days. The last time I stood next to Benji, I'd say he is approx 92-95kgs. Moltzen would be the lightest in our squad this year, and even he would be 90kgs.
