Billy Slater

The Storm threw that game - reckon Manly are paying for them all to have a holiday in Fiji or something - The Independent Commission Against Corruption needs to look into it.

Cameron Smith is as much a joke. He's lost his danger out of dummy half.

Robbie for Australian hooker.

1\. Hayne
6\. Soward
7\. Thurston
9\. Farah

What?

Have you watched Cameron Smith? Robbie has been far more damaging and dangerous this year.

Lockyer is getting old and has only had a handful of good games this year whereas Soward has been consistent all season.

IMO Hunt wont be chosen for Australia along the similar line as Crocker not being selected after he announced he was going to the ESL. And, if picked on form, Hayne > Slater. If you're talking fullbacks, the three names that spring to mind are Hayne, Hunt and Slater, and Slater, as the thread suggests, is in a bad patch at the moment. I reckon Gidley will be picked but at #14.

The fullback position will be between Slater and Hayne and will most probably come down to whose team is doing what in a month. Whilst Hayne is in outstanding form at the moment, Slater is the incumbant, was a part of the origin winning team and may be ramping up for a big finals campaign - for the forth year in a row. He has proven himself and with the exception of the WCF has been very reliable. Barring a complete collapse in form he will get first shot.

The 5/8th position will go to Locky as he is the incumbant, has led the maroons to 4 straight origin series wins and has never let his country down, in fact he has won test matches single handedly. Whilst he may not be setting the world on fire compared to Soward this year he is leading the broncos into yet another finals campaign in which they will do well. Sowards performances this year will garrantee that he is looked at seriously for rep honours next year - remember he hasn't proven himself in the high pressure fields as of yet. The next month will clear things up a bit.

The halfback role should stay with Thurston even though his team wont feature in the finals as he is a big game player with the neccessary amount of mongrel in him to play international football. He is the incumbant and has always played well for us. Prince isnt up to his standard.

The hooker position will go to Smith and most probably by a fair way. He is the incumbant, is a big game player, has done it all before and is in his fourth consecutive finals series. He also owned Robbie in the two origin games this year. Farah will get his chance but I think you'll find that in the selectors eyes he is at best the third choice behind Ennis at the moment.

Just my thoughts.

If Hayne doesn't play fullback there is something wrong but then again Daley and the other NSW selectors were too dopey to see it. Best attacking player in rugby league and you stick him on the wing. No wonder we haven't won a series for year… :unamused:

On current form, Hayne is the best player in the world. You would definitely have him over anyone else.

However, what will his form be in a couple months' time? Imagine if Parra don't make the finals series and the Storm make it to the grand final. What would Hayne's form be like then, compared to Slater?

Honestly though, either player would do the job as long as they play at 50% of their best form. That's the way international rugby league works…
