Blair Being Shopped Around

We did him a favour and allowed him to return to England a year early….I don't see how we should be paying a cent.

It makes no sense does it. Excluding that though if we are also paying for Gibbs & Heighington plus well over for Blair we are bleeding.

Thinking about this on that basis I think we need to use Blair until his contract runs out. Play him at prop. He is useless as a backrower.

I don't get how we are paying for Ellis, surely this is wrong,we let Ellis go because he was home sick,he got another deal worth just as much or more. 😕

The only explanation would be is 2012 contract was backended into 2013

If my other thought is true ,that will do me honestly That we let Ellis go ….... I suppose seeing he is still out injured maybe a blessing in disguise

I have been very critical of blair but I really feel sorry for him, because he is getting absolutely hammered now and to be honest he is not the only one out of form.,,, Include in this list from fridays game,, Farah, Woods, Pettybourne, Thompson.

I dont know how Farah and Woods have escaped criticism from friday nights game because they were both very bad also. No way origin standard. But obviously they dont do this week in week out like Blair.

I think there are factors that are affecting Blairs game that are completely out of his control and I think if he would return to the storm in a very structured game he would return to his best but that wont happen at the tigers whilst benji is in the halves controlling things. No way ever.

From what I hear he trains hard and puts in the effort. It just doesnt transfer to the field for some reason? Why? It is the overall team thats bringing him down I think.

I bet you if he goes to another club with a stables halves combo and a little more go forward he will return to his best unfortunately.

I've always defended Blair in the past. The fact is there is NO denying his work ethic lately is questionable. I mean, how on earth do you play 76 minutes and take 4 hit ups as back rower. That's just not working hard enough. I reckon that if he puts himself out there a little, takes 10-12 hit ups a game that his form will improve with it. I really don't like criticising the guy but the fact is statistically he's not doing enough and for an experienced forward, that doesn't cut it.

At this rate I'd take Ellis on one leg over a fully fit Blair.

Yeah but when benji came on for some stupid reason people think that he was good. He kept demanding the ball all the time and whilst he was a little more flamboyant than fulton he did nothing. Could this be the reason for the lack of hit ups? or getting the ball to him? I mean failing that what does blair have to do go into dummy half all the time to get it? The hit up issue isnt just his fault. Benji handled the ball the most apart from Robbie and didnt really create many opportunities. Have they been practising set plays at all?????? where are they? All I see is Robbie from dummy half run past the marker and pass it to a forward who gets smashed. Next play same thing… Next play same thing.

There are other factors apart from Blairs work ethic here I think.

Farah and Woods didn't have the best of games

But they have been outstanding for the rest of the season.
Farah is #1 hooker in the game at the moment and woods is in the top 5 front rowers.

In regards the the dummy half passing one out. Its a nice change from the run across field inside to a backrower

**Is Wests Tigers' Adam Blair the NRL's worst signing ever?**
The Daily Telegraph can reveal that apart from paying ridiculous money for Blair, the Tigers' salary cap is an absolute mess.
>
They are still paying for Gibbs, Heighington and Ellis from their previous deals, which is hurting new coach Mick Potter as much as the injury crisis.

so lets see what situtation our lovely board and previous coach put us into..

we let go of 2 juniors, one an international and the other on the up and one recognised international from england. and WERE STILL PAYING FOR THEM???

:wtf

The only way we could be paying for Ellis is if we punted him. It wouldn't be like a journalist to get his facts wrong would it? It's hard to believe he thought he would be playing alongside Gibbs and Fifita given every man and his dog knew they were being shipped off to make room for him.

I don't get the Benji hate at all. He was good. He looked dangerous, set up a try with his first touch (it was dropped but that wasn't his fault), helped create our first try and basically looked like our only decent attacking/creative player.

I can accept Blairs lack of hit-ups in that game. I can't accept the missed tackles. I actually think the effort was there from him as well. His defence though was atrocious.

To look at it realistically, Ellis hasn't laced on a boot as far as I am aware since he left us. Gibbs is in a similar boat, he has surely been injured for more weeks then he has played. If we kept them both then we would have had three great players on the books and injured when you add Galloway to the mix.

Our position would be no better, although we would have had better quality cattle on the sidelines. I would love to have all of them in our pack, but most of all I wish we had of kept Fifita. I don't care about attitude, he tried his heart out every time he took the field and would make more meters in one game then Blair has all year.

For Blair to come out in the press last week and state that he had a meeting with Potter to discuss what he needs to do better, and to then come up with statistics like he did is an absolute disgrace. I can get a warning letter if I don't perform for my employer, why should players be any different?

With all the slaggings he is getting on TV, Radio and now the printed press, his $$ value has dropped dramically imo.

Correct. I think we have to keep him now and use him as well as possible. If that is in State cup so be it. He shouldn't be offered another contract though - he isn't worth it.

another great move by recruitment….way overpriced to begin with and now we're paying for it.......

Wests Tigers paid to buy a new Mercedes but received a clapped out Morris Minor which has run out of rego.

Haha love the logic

Would they be injured at exactly the same time, same injuries, same severity if they stayed here??
–---------------------------------

I'd take whatever the tele says re: these contracts with a grain of salt, but if its true it wouldnt surprise me

Given Blair's ongoing performance (since the day he arrived) I have to think it's not his fault. I think we got suckered into paying too much for an average player. I have to admit, I didn't really follow him at the Storm but I can clearly remember being disappointed, after all the hype, watching him in Tigers colours.
