Blair coup not bloodless as Tigers stalwarts consider futures

I tend to agree with the club on this one if they are looking to get rid of Fulton/Gibbs and bring in Blair. We have some amazing juniors and what seems like a lack of fire in our forwards.

Blair's attitude and skill will not only lift the team directly, but I think help the juniors out in their development.

Plus, I'm glad Sheensy is finally putting a rocket up them. We can't continue to be an inconsistent side like we have for the past 6 years. At least this might put a bit of fear into the squad that no one is irreplaceable.

hammertime - very well put. On paper we should have won more Grand Finals but are very inconsistent and appears some players are not being made accountable.

Imagine having the Captain and Vice Captain of New Zealand along with the best English player then
throw in Lawrence, Lote, Woods, Rhino, Galloway and Farah and that is one impressive side.

Maybe a change of scenery would be good for Gibbs, Fulton and Moltzen.

Remember these two blokes have binding contracts & dont have to go anywhere, is blair worth $500000 i dont think so. will this cause trouble in the club if fulton & gibbs go? i think so. if we loose moors, flannagan, mckinnon, maybe daniella , who i would like to keep & tod retires it must release enough money to buy blair.

You have to have 25 contracted players, you cant flick 1/2 dozen players to sign one. So in other words you have to flick a player or two on substantial dollars and replace them with minimum contract players in order to get Blair under the cap. The likes of Moors,Flannagan and Daniella are on basic contracts . Thats why the likes of Gibbs,Fulton,Rhino and Moltzen have all been given permission to check the market out.

If we could sign Blair and keep all our players it would have been a done deal months ago

my mail tells me its been signed and delievered. i think management is just waiting to see what happens with fulton and gibbs before they announce anything so that they dont disrput the joint and have it spilling out on to the field.

i for one hope the deal is not worth the reported $500,000 a year..thats paying overs for a forward

Good to hear Liam's side of the story. Both he and Bryce have contracts that bind the club to keep them on. But, it seems like we have to shed some cap to get Adam Blair, even if we backload the deal. So, Liam and Bryce have been 'given permission' to talk to other clubs. Maybe someone will offer them more money or more security then they get at WT. Maybe not. The club is hoping that at least one of them goes, so that, with Wade McKinnon going, and maybe Toddy Payton retiring, enough cap is freed up for Blair.

If neither of them goes - which is their prerogative - there must be a 'plan B' that presumably involves shedding a number of our current depth players. Mitch Brown, Geoff Daniella, Beau Ryan, plus McKinnon. The negative with that is that it's more players to make up the sum and it's losing 3-4 backs to gain one forward.

If we get Blair, and we don't have a run of injuries, Liam's best chance would be as the 14, covering backrowers and backs, and quite possibly not playing many minutes. He might prefer to play somewhere else where he is assured of a starting spot.

I like the look of the props we have this week vs the Knights - Galloway, Fifita, Gibbs and Woods. Who needs Adam Blair?? He certainly isn't worth tearing the club apart.

what do the Tigers props have to do with this?…Blair would be used in the back-row...Blair has more class than Fulton and Gibbs combined...they're honest first graders...Blair on the hand is an international VC...i know who id rather

x 2 could not agree more, you can throw fifita and bmm in as well. groat and begovich in a couple of years as well

I don't think Boyd is a chance- he and Sheens detest each other, stemming from the Roo's tour.

Make a play for Lochlan Coote imo. He won't be playing first grade at the Panthers when Gordon is fit unless Gould is mental.

They say Blair is "the best forward in the world". I can't find a spot for him in the NSW team let alone Australian side. So just because they say it doesn't mean it's true. Also his form lately has been average at best & his stats suck.

Disagree. Blair would be the second forward picked (after Gallen) if he was eligible for NSW, and would at least make the bench for the Aussies.

Who's spot would he take….

Blair >>>>King

King's not backrow. Blair is not better than Lewis or Creagh or B.Scott or Gallen or even Bird. Check his work load, he NEVER gets a mention on how brilliant he is in a Storm game, it all comes from his manager & beatups from the press. His stats against the lowley Sharks were
32 tackles 4 misses 9 hitups for 60 metres 1 error 1 offload. All this for $500k (tell him they're joking).
Fulton stats againts best team in comp.
35 tackles 1 miss 14 hitups for 72 metres 2 errors.
Gibbs stats againts best team in comp.
16 tackles 1 miss 12 hitups for 87 metres 2 errors.

Have just sent a Text to my mad rooster mate Last time we talked on the weekend he said the Roosters ARE still interested in Blair and while they did not offload Miles to make a play at Blair , they did not make an offer to Myles either . Read into that what you will !!!

Mad Rooster mate who has given me some solid info in past says very little has changed since we last spoke but is saying to not right off the Knights just yet . So the five clubs he has been told are chasing him still are still Us, Storm Roosters Knights Cronulla .

Mail seems to be that Dugan will be at the Roosters in 2013.

Great player needs to get his head right and shrink his ego a little.

Would love to see Boyd here but it won't happen, reckon he will finish up back at the Broncos.

Coote is not a bad option.

**Coote is not a bad option.**

Horrible.

**Why do we need Adam Blair…and at such a high cost!.**..I think we are right for 2nd rowers!...Ellis will no doubt go back to the ESL when his contract is up...by that time a Dwyer/ Murdoch-Masilla combination would be lethal!...and at half the price of Blair without having to shed player who would give blood for the Tigers in Gibbs, Rhino and Fulton...**I'm starting to wonder and doubt if signing Blair is worth it!**

So am I. I'd rather that money (if true) be spent elsewhere.
