Blair coup not bloodless as Tigers stalwarts consider futures

Blair would fit into our attack well, skillful set of hand, size, strength & some punch!

We also need a gun FB to replace McKinnon, i dont think brown or moltz are guns in that position.

If Blair doesnt fall through, we should steal Sonny Bill Williams back from union, although i think there was a clause in his contract with bulldogs that prevented him returning to any team in the nrl until 2013.

Sonny Bill is a marketers dream as much as benji is, so no matter what the asking price, he will generate so much revenue for the club.

King's not backrow. Blair is not better than Lewis or Creagh or B.Scott or Gallen or even Bird. Check his work load, he NEVER gets a mention on how brilliant he is in a Storm game, it all comes from his manager & beatups from the press. His stats against the lowley Sharks were
32 tackles 4 misses 9 hitups for 60 metres 1 error 1 offload. All this for $500k (tell him they're joking).
Fulton stats againts best team in comp.
35 tackles 1 miss 14 hitups for 72 metres 2 errors.
Gibbs stats againts best team in comp.
16 tackles 1 miss 12 hitups for 87 metres 2 errors.

Also, I noticed you only picked out one game to compare stats. It's easy to cherry pick data to suit your argument…

Against the Broncos, Blair's stats were:
23 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 12 runs, 111 metres, 2 offloads, 1 error.

Against the Broncos, Fulton's stats were:
15 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 8 runs, 36 metres, 0 offloads, 1 error.

Gibbs' stats against the Broncos:
16 tackles, 1 missed tackles, 8 runs, 63 metres, 0 offloads, 0 errors.

I didn't "cherry pick" that was just the last round.
Interesting you chose Broncos match Fulton 28 minutes {1st game back from injury}
Gibbs 37 minutes similar return
Blair 71 minutes also none of the Broncos stars.
You keep putting out how good he is, please supply the statistics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who wants to pay $500k for [23 tackles, 2 missed tackles, 12 runs, 111 metres, 2 offloads, 1 error.] against a crappy under strength Brisbane side.

Thanks for agreeing with me ncle bob, lets check the stats after this round

I'm confused. Is She a He or is He a She?

Regarding his position, who's to say Blair will be played in the back row? He's played every position in the forwards except Hooker so if he hypothetically was eligible for the Blues why couldn't he replace King the giant mattress.

As for your stats, who really cares?? Do stats reflect the imitation or toughness of a player? I know who I would prefer to not come up against between Blair, Fulton or Gibbs.

Geez i would really like to see Moltzen make a fist of it. He is being forced to learn on the job which is never easy. Did he ever play fullback in NYC? Doesn't seem like he did. His major problem at fullback is positioning and this is why he looks so uncertain all the time (i totally reject suggestions by some on this forum that he is not courageous).

Your 100% correct on Moltzen. Too many sheep on here who have no idea. The fact that he doesn't put his body on the line is probably the dumbest comment that the sheep's have made.

As for Blair yes he would be a +ve signing however if the 500k is a true figure we are paying overs.

Ok guys you seem to be misunderstanding who is replacing who from a team perspective with who is replacing who from a club perspective

Our fulls trength pack worked like this in 2010

Starting Pack
Galloway
Farah
Gibbs
Payten
Ellis
Hieghno

Bench
Fifita
Dwyer
Fulton

At 20 mins Gibbs and Galloway went off replaced by Fifita and Dwyer - Payten moves to prop - 2 interchanges

At halftime Payten off and Fifta off - replaced by Galloway and Gibbs - same would then swap for the last 20 mins - 4 more changes (6 total)

Fulton would replace Heghno or Ellis at some stage and then whichever one went off would come back on during the second half for dwyer - 2 more swaps (8 in total)

1 interchange for our back on the bench and 1 left over for any late problems - 2 interchanges (10 in total)

The time for each interchange obviously varies slightly based on the game but these are the rotations

This means that in 2012- Blair replaces Payten - as a prop and second rower
Woods replace Gibbs in the front row - either taking Gibbs spot or Fifita's if you start with Fifita

Fulton is replaced by BMM taking the bench role - playing like Fulton would at full strength minor minutes with Dwyer playing more minutes

As you notice Blair is a swap for Payten - Gibbs and Fulton are being replaced by Woods and BMM (or similar for example Shirnack).

The reason for Gibbs possible release is that he will struggle to hold down a first grade spot as will Fulton - although given injuries at least 1 would be likely to play most weeks if they both stayed

I don't even want Blair at our club. I don't think we need him. Especially for the money that is being quoted.

Many players have shown great loyalty to stay with the club, it would be nice if the club would also display that kind of loyalty to their players (especially when they still under contract!!) :wtf

The reality is we don't know what kind of money Blair is being offered and as for loyalty - the club will honour the contracts of the players who want to stay and we have also given some players the opportunity to get better deals and play more first grade and I think that is true loyalty

Blair is a good ,solid forward, but I dont put him in the same class as an Ellis ,Thaiday or Burgess for impact,so Id be really surprised if he's anywhere near the $500k being quoted.
He'd be a useful acquisition at the rite price to lead the forwards, particularly with Ellis getting on & Galloway continually underachieving.
What I dont get is how we got into a situation with Gibbs & Fulton, who are both marginal 1st graders, managed such long term contracts in the first place?
And rather than Blair,we seem to be getting really thin on quality outside backs after Lawrence & Tuquiri,& I reckon Bennett is absolutely rite in not investing yr big $$ in chunky forwards

500K is a lot of dosh - hope if he does sign - he is better value of some of the cronies back the dim dark ages like Hill etc who got paid top dollar and were useless.

AVOURITE son Ryan Hoffman is waiting in the wings to rejoin Melbourne as soon as Adam Blair announces his departure.

Blair has told Rugby League Week he is growing impatient with the delays associated with his move to a Sydney club – probably Wests Tigers – and wants his future sorted out as soon as possible.

Hoffman has an option to leave Wigan at the end of the season and is thought to have politely declined joining the Cherry and Whites’ coach Michael Maguire at South Sydney.

“I’ve had a chat with him and his manager,” said Storm football manager Frank Ponissi.

“He’s very happy over there, him and his wife are really enjoying it, but the indecision about who is going to coach Wigan is making him consider his options and he just wanted to seek out our situation.

“We said to him that if Adam Blair is to leave, we would certainly look at him.”

Wests Tigers have given Liam Fulton and Bryce Gibbs permission to negotiate with other clubs in a move interpreted as an attempt to open up cap space for Blair.

Blair said: “Hopefully soon, we’ll sort it out.

“I don’t really read the newspaper too much. I guess it’s getting tossed up. I want to get it sorted as soon as possible, just for the club (Melbourne) and myself.”

It’s understood the Storm have held off making an offer to Hoffman until Blair makes an announcement. Hoffman is expected to either rejoin Melbourne or stay at Wigan with no other club seriously in the race.

Blair is a peaheart imo. 500K is massive overs for him. Without the Storm around him he'll struggle. Huge mistake signing him.

Macdugall what games are you watching. he is a class player with a great offload and has a lot of momgrel in him and will be a great buy for the tigers. 500k maybe a bit of overs i would pay 400k for him in a heartbeat.
