Blair for 5

I have to say that I now have my doubts about him at the Tigers at all. Tough for sure, but potentially a serious liability. Hope this one doesn't come back to bite us.

You and I saw 2 different things Tigerdan. What I saw was G Stewart dawdle off the field then change direction 2 times to get in blairs way, then have a look back to see where his weirdo brother was coz he knew he would have had his ass handed to him in a fair 1 on 1 fight.

Agree, looked to me like Blair being a professional and taking his punishment like a man and jogging off so the game could get started again and Stewart being typical Manly and walking off slowly having a sook

Also, I dont see why Manly botherd ajourning the case, seeing as Blair was before them and they knew what he got, you would think they would realise that no matter how long they drag it out his season Stewart's over. Seems like classic Manly just dragging it out to pi$$ everyone else off

The biggest punishment would be if Melbourne win the grand final and he has to sit there and watch it all rather than being out there playing. I bet he would like to have finished on a positive note because he has been there for so many years.

Blair a liability. That is one of the most ridiculous posts I have read on this forum and I have read some Bobby Dazzlers.

I do feel sorry for him. 5 was too many imo.

Manly are playing the victim here and were considering calling Blair as a witness.

My only regret is he didn't land a good one on Stewart.

Not good for Melbourne, but guarantees us not just an injury free player for 2012, but a weaker Melbourne should we meet them in the finals.

Regardless of the advantages it presents us, I'm just gobsmacked that Blair could have been given 5 weeks for protecting himself against a pre-meditated attack by one of the 'Deliverance' brothers. Perhaps 2 weeks for those few uppercuts in the original blue, but 5 weeks for defending himself? Sorry, that's an emotional decision by the judiciary.

As for the brothers grub, 10 weeks for Glen the 'in bred' and 6 for 'low brow' Brett. Won't happen though

Defending himself against a pre-meditated attack. Are you serious? thats not what i saw.

He ran to catch up to stewart after they have both been binned, mouthed off at him, then pushed him. The second brawl was all his fault (well the start of it). If he just walks off at normal pace second brawl doesnt happen.

Perhaps the current Specsavers promo might help? Stewart knew exactly what he was doing. He changed direction to come into contact with Blair, looked left to ensure the ref was not looking and then threw a punch. Which of those facts is not clear to you? The brawl was Blair's fault? I'm satisfied I've now heard everything, lol

I thought I heard on NRL on Fox that the judiciary said they saw that Blair was NOT the aggressor… I think Stewart is in big do-do (and it couldn't happen to a more deserving club or family)

If Stewart pleads not guilty and gets found guilty does he not get extra thrown on top of his suspension?

Blair's ban is a great result for Tigers chanced this year, but I personally feel sorry for the bloke. He hasn't missed a game all year and every player dreams of making it to the Grand Final. The coverage tonight showed he was shattered with the verdict, although I suppose it will make him just as hungry next year.

On a separate note, the Manly players that chased Blair are a pack of cowards, especially Brett Stewart who came with a flying punch from behind. I know it wasn't a good look for the game, but I personally don't blame the Storm bench for jumping to Blair's rescue when he had 5 cowards on top of him. Every one I know would have done the same if five guys were punching one of your mates.

Lastly, every week players throw punches in at least one game over the weekend and very little ever happens. I get the feeling the NRL have not liked the media backlash and have taken this opportunity to send a strong message to every one. Unfortunately for Blair, he was sacrificed with a harsher penalty than normal to help the NRL send the message out loud and clear! I hope Glenn Stewart gets an even harsher penalty because that dog ran into the first brawl when it wasn't even his fight and then he started the fight with Blair on the sideline. If any one deserves to miss the Grand Final it's Glenn Stewart.

Yeh top post Shano, couldn't agree more.

With the NRL, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time then watch out. Making examples of players they think may have compromised their 'marketing' of the game is a specialty.

Good deal for us but extremely harsh penalty for him.

So hypocritical of the NRL to hand down that judgement when it routinely uses images like that to promote SOO, rivalry rounds and test matches.

Yeah, I feel for Blair - rotten way to end a good career with Melbourne. I'm sure he would have liked to celebrate it another way. Still, it was his choice to get involved in the first place, I guess. Agree about the NRL's hypocritical stance, though.

Win Win for WT.

Note 5 weeks not 5 games.

Should be clear to play for NZ

I thought it means the same thing :S

So it doesn't matter if the Storm don't make the Grand Final (5 weeks away) he will still be able to play for NZ?

Well what I hope is
Blair defending himself, not the aggressor and pled guilt = 5 weeks
G Stuart the aggressor, put himself in line to confront Blair and throw the first punch = ???
I would atleast like to see doulbe what poor Blair got.
Sucks to be ruled out of the GF so far out. Bad way to say goodbye
