Blake Austin is playing the game of his life

Austin had already agreed to go to Canberra on a 2 year deal from 2016…he was out of here....much rather let him go....Wests Tigers were not part of Austin's plans...

And why did he agree to go Geo.

He wanted one position and to pay first grade. We couldnt offer that.

Cant believe people dont get this.

Exactly…so he moved on

Watching this kid play for City last weekend there was no doubt that this bloke has a big future.

There is something special about a player who always seems to make an impact on the field. I saw it in Terry Lamb when he came on in the 2nd half of a game for Mapgies V Tigers back in the early 1980's - it was his debut in 1st grade. He scored 2 tries that day and he looked like nothing I'd ever seen in a 5/8 before. Terry went on to be a pretty decent player.

Austin is no different. Love him or hate him, he's always in the action. And he makes things happen. 3 tries last weekend and he scored many for us last year whether he played 5/8, half, fullback or hooker. The bloke makes things happen. And thats what footballs about, making things happen.

Now many here will say…...this is not a forum for ex tiger players, fair enough. Personally if Austin was 5/8 this year we would be 6 & 2 ATM....no doubt. Moses may be really good one day, but he's at least 3-4 years behind Austin ATM.

Whats wrong with our club that the form 5/8 in the NRL - Austin & form winger - Koriabete were let go so easy. It doesn't say much for our club at all in getting the best of our footballers.

And for all the people who say Austin just has the "show & go"......well it works pretty well, just like Fittler only had the step off the right foot.

Mark my words.....Blake Austin is a NSW Origin player within 2 years, or earlier.

I do think the Tigers were right to stick with Moses at 5/8th, and a player like Austin was never going to hang around without a starting spot. That said we'll feel pretty silly if the 2017 NSW halves pairing ends up being Brooks and Austin.

Yeah, fantastic player and a fantastic bloke it seems. I saw him interviewed last year and he made it quite clear that he really wanted to make the position his. He didn't skirt around the truth at all and just said what he wanted and played like he meant it. Players player last year wasn't he? I can't believe we didn't give him the gig long term. Absolutely awesome to see him going so well at the Raiders. Always baffled by people here that said the reason he scored so many tries was because he wouldn't pass. Well, with blokes outside him like Lulia and Lawrence, and at times Akauola why would you? He was brilliant in an ordinary team.

I think he supports ok but God help him passing it much further than himself.
He might score a few tries for a little while but I think we got rid of him because being a one trick pony won't make him a star.
Saying that, I hope he proves me wrong.

He may well be a one trick pony but nobody in opposition teams have seemed able to stop his one trick lately. Must be something more to his game you would think. People supposedly know how he is going to play but he still keeps kicking arse. Good luck to him.

I said on here last season when Austin was still with us that he would one day play for Australia and I haven't changed that opinion. I see him as an impact utility off the bench, the way Craig Wing was often used in past test matches. The guy can be thrown into any position on the field and can adapt to it beautifully - that is a rare talent.

Sure, he has some kinks to iron out of his game, but what player hasn't? He's young and coach-able and that's all that matters because with that amount of talent, the sky's the limit. I would be much more excited about our Origin chances if he was chosen in the halves this year instead of some of the nuffies they are suggesting. I don't think Origin would faze him at all.

Its a bummer we couldn't keep him. Brooks and Austin compliment each other very well (Brooks traditional halfback, Austin crazy ball runner).

Either way though, we chose to stick with Moses so we must stick with him. We still need to give Moses more time. I reckon towards the back end of the year we will start to see Moses explode as an attacking weapon

Brooks never liked playing with Austin.

Judging by the Raiders game it would not surprise me if they have some issues between them.

I dont think any of the Brooks, Sirro, Tedesco, Moses clique liked Austin.

They didnt like Potter singing him and they didnt like how much pressure he placed on their good mate.
