Ayshford,

he is better at his position than Moltzen.

Personally would keep both to see how they go under a new coach.
Your comparisons with the players listed and Moltzen are ridiculous.only one player you mentioned is regular first grader - and that is Anasta.
Some of the others may go on to be but you can't be 100%… and you conveniently forget Moltzen was our top try scorer despite missing about five games.

Both Ayshford and Moltzen have plenty of talent - hopefully the new coach can get them to show it more regularly.

He might have been out highest tryscorer, but how many did he let in???

No brainer. Ayshford.

Ayshford.

Just because Moltzen has worn jersey's 1-6 it doesn;t mean he's any good in any of them.

Jack of all trades, master of none

[stryker]

Ayshford every day of the week.
Moltz is a liability in every position. Blake had an aweful year but has shown that he can handle the gig. Tim has not.

[Tiger_Watto]

It really depends on their contract values… Both can play First Grade, but if either is getting overs, they can go!

[bp_tiger]

ayshford by a country mile, and that is been kind to moltzen, i think.

[supercoach]

Ditch both and put the money towards a top notch signing either in 2013 or 2014

[LCA]

With a settled, organising half-back, Ayshford could be fantastic for us. Moltzen is a liability. Get rid of him.

neither are off contract are they? another excuse to start an anti moltz thread!!

Moltzen is off contract MTD assuming that what we were told was true about the three year contract being offered but not offered in writing

fair enough, hard to know what the hell is going on any more, given up trying to work it all out.

Ayshford.

[Anthism]

Playstation or Nintendo 64?
Both good at some point and worth something but currently next to nothing.

Keep Moltzen, if I had to choose. He is one of the few players we have who backs up. Showed what he can do in the Rnd 23 game vs St George when he scored three tries. Far more attacking ability than Blake.

Lets just keep both we just about to sign a new coach lets see how they play under them next year then mabe there will be another clean out.

My thoughts exactly - both had poor years last year - but who didn't - they both have talent and with a new coach and fresh approach we may get to see the best from both of them.

I appreciate a good Moltzen bashing but this is too much. There is no way on Earth that Moltzen is a worse fullback than Rowe, Simona and Rudolph. He is inconsistent but so are all three of them. They all have the potential to be better than them but no way are they better than him right now. Rowe is the best of the three but he has the Moltzen dropsies on occasion too and isn't the best defender, which Moltzen actually is really good at. Simona was pretty much woeful at fullback for BRET and BRET's fortunes turned when Meaney went back there. Rudolph was only at fullback because he is a freakish talent and Payto wanted to find a spot for him but his defense in the front line was woeful and he ended up getting dropped. For 10 weeks at the end of 2011 Moltzen was just about the best fullback in the NRL. He's just incredibly inconsistent. There's also no way that Braith Anasta is a better halfback than him. Brath has played one game in his career at halfback and his team got utterly flogged. Moltzen has a crazy good winning record as a halfback.

Work with a guy who has connections with the Tiger_Sharks and he tells me they are trying to find cap space for Blake and are very keen to lure him down their. Not sure if it has legs but it would make sense, they are very low on 3s and 4s

Well if thats the case we must be close to signing Jennings which i hope we do.

Well no, that's not the case. We don't have the coin for Jennings.

He should go IMO. No speed or footwork, doesn't pass and the only ability he has is to stand up in a tackle

He outstreaked Carney to the tryline in 2010 in the semi final.

He fended away from Hayne and streaked 50m metres to score out pacing the Eels backline to do it.

No Footwork? No passing?

The is the same Ayshford who stepped through the Warriors backline in 2011 to put Marshall over to score when we were being smashed - probably a turning point of the game?

The same Ayshford who was the centre to Beau Ryan during 2011 who was also our highest try-scorer that year? obviously he didn't pass the ball to him…..

Get a grip lads. He's a good quality player who has had a year filled with interruptions, and stop and starts. Give the kid some stability and he'll rampage.

I honestly hope we haven't lost him - as he would be a bigger loss long term than Heighno, and Ryan.

While I wouldn't mind Ayshford staying, I think too many people talked the guy way too much after 2010 and 2011\. 2011 He had a good year, but a lot of people labelled it "amazing" and "rep worthy", when really other than a dominant display vs NZ, it was just solid/good.

On pace, he might have it when he gets into space, but the issue is he is very slow off the mark, doesn't run onto the ball and doesn't get going. Every player out there is generally quick once they are in space (I.E - Did you see when Pearce scored vs the Dragons this year and the commentators said, I didn't realise Pearce was a speedster). And the issue with Ayshford is he very rarely gets into space and takes an age to get going. So I think labelling him slow is a fair call. And despite your stat on Ryan, Ayshford has a terrible passing game. Ayshford is just a ball runner, he never looks to pass. I don't remember one time ever (and happy for you to provide examples), where Ayshford legitimately set up his outside man.

On the up side, he has handy footwork and his defence is good. He misses tackles here and there, but so do most centres. Defence is not the issue. He COULD turn out to be a bigger loss than Heighno/Ryan, as unlike those two, Ayshford actually has a few pretty good attributes. But Pace and passing are not one of them.
