I think on last years effort, it isn't fair to judge anyone!

Ayshford played average at best, but the halves combinations provided nothing all year. Lawrence was out, there were injuries a plenty with no go forward, we were constantly on the backfoot, there were rumblings constantly through the club. It just went on and on.

With stability and the uncertainty now gone, I expect you will see overall improvement in many players including Ayshford.

True, heaps of players will be wanting to wipe the slate clean and start again in 2013.

I am genuinely starting to get excited for this season!

I agree Swordy. He had a poor year, but so did most of the team. I expect the team as a whole to lift under new tutelage.

Blair and Ayshford to shave their heads for charity

Wests Tigers NRL players Adam Blair and Blake Ayshford will have a hair raising experience at Concord Oval on Tuesday, February 26, as they brave it and have their heads shaved for World’s Greatest Shave.

Blair and Ayshford have decided it is time to remove their big crop of hair before the NRL season starts on March 7.

Their locks will be shaved off by Toni & Guy hairdressers.

“It has taken me over a year to grow my hair the way it is today. It is time for it to go and there is no better cause than to do it in support of the Leukaemia Foundation,’’ Blair said.

“As one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events, this charity challenge raises vital funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

“Blake and I encourage Wests Tigers supporters to get behind us and make a donation on our team page. We have set a target each of $1000 but it would be great if we could raise more funds.”

World’s Greatest Shave is from 14-17 March 2013 but Wests Tigers wanted to get in early and help raise awareness of this event.

Shaves can take place throughout the year. The Foundation encourages registrants to shave their head or colour their hair to raise funds to support the 11,500 Australians that will be diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma and other related blood disorders this year. There are currently 50,000 people living with blood cancer.

The Leukaemia Foundation doesn’t receive any ongoing government funding and without the help of the community, it wouldn’t be able to continue providing personalised support to patients and their families.

At least he admits his last year wasn't good. Expecting big things from Ayshford this year, has the potential to be anything..

Ayshford wants No.3 jersey back

By Scott Dougherty

BLAKE Ayshford has been declared a representative player of the future for years now, and the last one was meant to be his breakthrough.

But instead of missing games due to representative duty, he missed game time because his form wasn't up to his club's standard.

"It was the first year I've been on the bench, first time in my life starting on the bench actually," he said.

"I let myself down in certain areas last year."

Since making his debut in 2009, Ayshford has been a constant in a fluctuating backline, until last season.

He now wants the Wests Tigers' No.3 jersey back as his own and for people to see him as a probable representative player, not just a possible in the future.

After a few stints in the back row during last season's patch of poor form, he "didn't mind it", but sees himself as a centre and that's where he has trained in the off-season under new coach Mick Potter.

"It's been the toughest preseason in a couple of years under the new coach," he said.

"He's got a whole new way of doing things.

"Lots of cross training but it's enjoyable because you're not on the field all the time."

Being off the field for a lot of the conditioning has its bonuses — Ayshford and his mates want to get back on it and prove a point in season 2013.

"The only thing I'm after is a grand final win," the 24-year-old said.

"I missed 2005 [the Wests Tigers' maiden grand final win] but there's still a few boys around who were there and they still talk about it.

"That's what I want — a title with my mates."

he let the fans down also.

There is often no harder task marker then the person themselves. Here's hoping Blake has a much improved 2013\. The potential is definately there.

At least he recognises that there is a lot of improvement required on last year's effort. In 2011, he was a monster in Lawrence's absense.
