Blake Ferguson

I'll pass on this one to be honest, we already have plenty of talented backs including Tedesco, Nofoaluama, Koroibete, Naiyavaro, Hoeter, Seve, Lawrence, Simona, McGrath, Rowe, Richards & Lulia.

I don't want to lose any of the players above and if we sign Ferguson we will be forced to lose at least two. Stay away from Ferguson and make a play for some decent forwards who are not on big money.

Mate, totally disagree. We could easily afford to drop two of those in favour of Ferguson. Some of those guys haven't even played first grade and you would pick them over a rep player? That's ridiculous.

And signing a 'decent' forward isn't better than Ferguson signing for us anyway. It would have to be a top class forward.

If we do make a play for a representative forward at the expense of singing a representative back then I'll yield. But that is not going to happen, nor should it. We can afford both and should be in the market for both.

Great player but total fruit loop. Another Mundine puppet. Potentially a game breaker but potentialy a team wrecker? :crazy

Personally, I loathe Mundine but give me him as a 5/8 any day. He was brilliant.

But calling Ferguson a Mundine puppet as though it is a deal breaker? By that reckoning so is SBW then!
Do they go around "wrecking teams"?
From what I remember Mundine was instrumental in getting to three grand finals and won one.
SBW wins everywhere he goes. His brilliance speaks for itself.
Ferguson is basically the only reason NSW won game 1 this year and is on the verge of being something special.

But I digress.

Get Ferguson!!!

For where we are at as a club in the rebuilding phase, especially where we are honestly at with it which is rock bottom, then no marquee signing alone will turn us around. We are that deep that even our footballing philosophy has to be corrected. Our eggs need to be spread as far and wide as we can accommodate in order to find a young spine whom we can build off and around. We have little to no foundations, look across our roster and find unarguable solid players to base a squad around at the very least, I can find less than half a starting side who would make any other teams starting line-up.

All in all we arent in the position to waste a fist full of cash on a single player who may be able to elevate us to the next level, the next level isnt enough where we are at. We need to find a solid core within our ranks, then spend when they could unleash such a player.

Forwards could be an issue if we get injuries

Biggest problem will be 6 , Brooks will need someone to take the pressure off him and can't see Austin ,Moltzen or Anasta being the answer

Teams are going to mark Brooks off the park and put extreme pressure on him

How about Tedesco at 6? 1.Rowe 2\. Richards 3.Simona 4.Nofoaluma 5\. Koroibete 6\. Tedesco 7.Brooks? Long shot I know and I know I left out Lawrence I hope he comes good in 2014 ….poor fella he's a gun when fit.

If thats the case, Simona fullback and Lawrence center.

why teddy when we have moses? he'll be great at 9s. he will hopefully have passed 80kg after a preseason too so he wont be completely outmuscled and in danger of injury.

There's no player in the NRL I would want the Tigers to stay further away from.

Lots of people keep mentioning "if he has his head right". The guy nearly butchered his career with the rooftop thing then totally derails it once given the opportunity of a lifetime in Origin. He's a lost cause

I don't think he is that good to be perfectly honest - a few games does not warrant 500k+ for a winger.
You would not have anything to do with Mundine or his puppets.
Just need a loose cannon to come to the club - bit like putting a fox in the henhouse with all these youngsters.
The club has always prided itself in having decent people - role models etc. what does he promote????
Not good. Even if he had the talent - no guarantee on a regular basis - he is not worth the risk.
Stick with what we have for 2014 and go for a good second rower for 2015.

Tedesco at 6?

No.

There is a simple solution. Sironen at 6 for 2014\. He and Fulton can hide Brooks in defence easily. By the end of the year, Sironen will be match hardened and ready for the back row, Brooks will have confidence defensively and Moses will be ready to slip into the number 6 role.

It's the best, smartest and strongest option available for 2014\. I don't want to have a makeshift five eighth or Anasta next to Brooks. Sironen is still playing a huge amount of games and game time on the field as a five eighth, keep that up for one more year.

It will be the best thing for all players involved and the club.

Yes I agree with the no Teddy at 6 , he is a fullback and a damn good one , but he isn't a Lockyer

But what is the plan after 2014 MU , Moses or do we try and buy another 6

I'd be going with Moses. he must play NSW Cup in 2014 though.

Sironen can move to second row, Anasta will be gone, Moltzen will be gone at a guess.

Will have some coin to throw at whoever's on the market.

I'm thinking Moses will get some game time in the NRL side late in the season

why sirro at 6??? he is already prepared for backrow, he played his BEST games there despite being injured…

and brooks is not a poor defender like benji was, he is clearly up to it in defence from the dragons game. he might slip up now and then, as he will in attack, but i doubt he will be a massive target like some halves in the nrl.

yep i have a feeling moses will be in NSW cup this year

moltzen and anasta will be in the no.6/7 depending on form/injuries.

moltzen's still with us in 2015\. all the other juniors by then would've had a good 2-3 years in the top grade.

Moses will probably jump in between 20's and NSW Cup similar to how Brooks was this season, and may get a game off the bench late next season. I would suspect Anasta will start at 6\. Moltzen/Austin may play utility off the bench if Potter goes that way. Personally would prefer 4 forwards on the bench. Fulton/Siro covers the halves and the other back 3 can shift if injuries occur eg. Richards to fullback if Tedesco goes down. Most centres could play in the backrow these days with their size, so I think the days of a utility are fazing out as most competitive teams are opting for size.

Av we found a halves coach yet if so who also Im a bit surprised we get Steve Folks back at the club. I think he was a big loss.

Fergo is a head case but we got no standout go to guy in our back line . Before we used to go to Benji to do produce some magic who we got now ? I say get him for 1 year and give him the rules you stuff up your out . No social media stay off the drink , try to turn him in to a role model for school kids on how alcohol can ruin dreams

Sirro won't start another game in the halves unless we're decimated by injuries. Most definitely not his position and the backrow is where he belongs. He may rotate into the halves during a match if required though.

Why are people saying we would need Sirro to cover for Brooks in defence? Our halves often play on different sides of the field so its a defensive centre they really need to be paired up with. But his defence is solid.

If it were up to some people on the forum some players would never play first grade without at least 1-2 full season in the nsw cup. Ridiculous. Moses and Brooks 100% halves combo for 2015, possibly late in 2014 if other halves haven't worked out. In 12-18 months time we will have grown our own range of rep quality backs. Build our own and they should stay. Otherwise the $ will always be a lure for mercenaries.
