Warren Ryan aka The Wok, always rated Blocker's football brain. That is good enough for me.
There was a fair bit of negativity in here about Roach's appointment for WTs. It was seen as another job for the old boys club (from the Balmain side no less) and he would hinder our players with nonsense and generally just be a pest from a bygone era.
But it seems he has found his niche, glad to have him on board! I'm sure he enjoys being able to give back to a club he loves.

I think I will start rating forwards on how much they make it personal, their animal. Full stop. Just like I rate a 5/8th or half back on the 5th tacle options and kicks (play making).
It isnt enough for a forward to take the ball up running. They have to want to and be seen to be running over the top and pulverizing the opposition because they want it that bad.

Not sure why so many people put so much stock into someone elses opinion of a person. If you're a fan great, but for me, listening to him for so many yrs on 2GB and his hopeless commentary, it leaves me very skeptical on how much credit to give him for our season to date.

Roach was a good Australian front rower and I'm sure he can impart good tips to the forwards.
However, his quotes in last Friday tele were he rambled on about LO and then went on to associate that weekend Brookvale game as great for the fans while ignoring or home match at Campbelltown was pathetic.
The impact of Kidwell is really understated.

I wonder how many here saw him play. He was some player. I never saw someone like Artie Beetson play but Blocker could carry a team. He had an unbelievable offload. I haven't seen a more skillful prop forward. There might be better metre eaters out there than him but when it comes to skills he was the best I've seen.

Block wasn't in Beetson's class, (very few - if any - were), but yes, he had a pretty good offload. He was also pretty quick when in the clear and was definitely as aggressive as any prop going around - that did lead to a number of 'dumb' penalties though. But the same could be said for all of the front rowers of that ilk - Beetson, Sattler, O'neill, Donnelly etc and in the modern game, Waerea-Hargreaves.
