Booing

I am in the unique position of being a white Australian male over 60 of Scottish heritage but because my skin is darker than normal (especially in summer) I have at times been discriminated for being aboriginal. A good example is one time at Nambucca Heads I tried to get a cabin in a caravan park only to be told there was no vacancies despite the the no vacancy sign clearly saying there was. I quietly walked away and sent in my blonde wife who surprise surprise immediately got a cabin. when it happens I choose to laugh it off but it does happen or at least did happen as it seems to be a lot less these days. But racism exists and I understand their position but it not exclusively white against colours as it happens in reverse as well. There are too many radicals on all sides for it to ever change

Yep, it’s quite the situation to assume he did it when he is cleared. I wonder if any subliminal prejudice is at play?
Charges were dropped - he wasn't "cleared". I assume you know the difference. He does have an active AVO in place from his former partner so read into that what you will. I was more referring to him walking out on the club when things were bad. He will get the same treatment as Woods and Moses did for years.

You seem fairly switched on with good insights. To me there is a clear difference between Leilua and Goodes. I think it was wrong for the reasons I outlined, you believe it was fine for the reasons you outlined. We are landing different on the issue and probably will continue to and that's fine. The general consensus is what matters

Over sensitive victims…
Wally Lewis got called a wanker by thousands of people in unison all the time.
Aussies are no where near as racist as claimed. We are tall poppy hunters though and if you excel, especially in sport, we’ll go after you to gain some sort of advantage.
The case with Collingwood and Buddy is tall poppy...totally agree

I agree there is a huge difference.
Was merely pointing out how easy it is to start a narrative and label people without any justification.
Seeing the same situation differently is well and good, until one side of the debate attacks and labels the other…and it happens everytime, especially over these past few years. It destroys diversity of thought.
There are far less true xenophobes, racists, homophobes, misogynists, transphobes etc in modern societies than general consensus will have you believe.

Talk about been TWO faced , not good booing a aboriginal but ok to boo islander who’s racist NOW
Leave off. Leilua was booed this one time at his old home ground. It's a common thing when a player faces his old club at their home ground for the first time.

Moses, Woods, Matterson, Aloiai were booed by WT fans first time they played against us at our home ground.
Ivan Cleary was booed first time he coached Panthers against us.

He won't be booed by crowds of other clubs, or probably by a WT crowd next season
Nothing racist in this case.

I agree that there are probably not that many overt "true" racists in the neo-nazi kind of way. I also believe you can argue that the booing of Adam Goodes was racially motivated, while also arguing that not all those who were booing were "racist". There are so many other factors. I do think some people are very thin skinned, and when it's pointed out that racism still exists, they believe they are being attacked and called a racist.

An idiot poster a few pages back literally did this.
It’s not a belief, it is verifiable

Typical tactic.
Shutdown dissenting voices at every opportunity. It wouldn’t have mattered what my answer was.
We’ve already had one clown call everyone in here he disagrees with racist…and he received a heap of likes for it. No context, no evidence, just casually labelled and people agreed!
Says a lot about them and their intelligence.
Thou protest too much

I won’t answer that as it’s none of your business.
It is also a braindead narrative.
Give yourself a dozen for being so ignorant.
I'll put that right back at you.
People from the dominant race or gender do not have the knowledge to deny that there is discrimination against other races or against women.
