Up until last year, Lawrence was one of our most reliable players. He'd scored regularly (or would come close to it) set a couple up, and stop the opposition scoring by reading the man he was marking. His defense was getting better each game, pulling off some great 1 on 1 tackles on men bigger than him (the tackle on Fui Fui in the 2011 end of season test was one of the best). His speed was electric….you'd back him in a race to the line when in open space and his handling errors were minimal. **Last year that all went out the window and I now worry that the best is behind him**. Lets hope he's right and it was mainly the consistency in the halves that kept him from gaining form this season and not other factors. For the club to do well, we need consistent players like Lawrence to be going well.

WTF?? you worry about a guy who is proven and where the team as a whole performed badly, and even in his own words the selection process had a big part in his poor form… and your worried about his best is behind him???... **Based off what exactly?????**

An injury that almost left him in a wheelchair perhaps? Its a very realistic chance that he won't be the player he was pre-injury. It was like Simon Dwyer's injury but on a much lower scale, it was absolutely brutal. Here's hoping he can get back to where he was, but people should understand if he doesn't the injury would have a lot to with it

Too many halves pairings. Ridiculous

He was always going to be slow at getting back to his best this season. But that wasn't the issue. Time will tell

The guy could of been crippled. Horrendous injury. But I believe Lawrence on this one. The halves were also at times horrendous. But in the back of my mind, i have images of Rowdy injured in that infamous nite. I don't know what haunts me more, that, or Myles in the hotel room. They both defy imagination.

Absolutely.I think between brian Smith and Tim Sheens and there constant position reshuffles they were the second conming of Jekyll and Hyde.

I think Lawrence is a bit hard on himself but it is good to see. He was obviously still carrying the mental scars from 2011 this season and especially because he did his hammy in his 2nd or 3rd game back against the Dragons in the semis that year.
People blaming Sheens for the No 7 merry-go-round….sure it wasn't ideal but who was he gonna put in there:Miller? He is untried at this level and maybe a flop too, time will tell perhaps. Surely a fill-in No 7 at this level can manage to pass the ball out to a centre **POST EDITED BY ADMIN**. Lawrence and Ayshford had shocking years this year, but I reckon they will kick arse in 2013 and CL will play Origin in place of Jennings

Lawrence has never really re sparked since pelvis injury. Hope he can re-bounce jamie lyon style for 2013

Benji and Miller seem to have the same dominant nature. Will that be a problem at 1/2 and 5/8 ?

Lawrence is the ultimate professional on and off the field and IMO, the next club captain. He has a healthy lifestyle along with a health/fitness business of his own outside of footy. He will get his body right 100% hopefully, it's just time.

He wasn't a standout this year, but not our worst. To me, after the horrific injury he suffered says a lot about him.

He's obviously came back with a timid mentality, and rightfully so. A full off season and a good break away from footy will do him a world of good mentally.

And he's correct, when our forwards and halves aren't performing or being changed every week, the backs are gunna struggle (I believe Ayshford had this problem also).

If the whole team fires next year. I think we'll see our old Chrissy Lawrence back.

Moltzen is not that type of fullback in any way shape or form , so why say one thing and do another ??

Never seemed to be an issue for Lockyer and Thurston. Nor should it be for Marshall and Miller with the right coaching instruction!

Moltzen is not that type of fullback in any way shape or form , so why say one thing and do another ??

Could just be laying it all out there in the open so Moltzen is under no illusions about what is expected from him if he plays fullback.

I cant believe so many here are saying that Lawrences injury left him timid and affected his play last year. Short memories….

CL played for Australia after his injury and tore it apart. the best I ever saw him play was after his injury. Something else held him back last year, not his injury.

So true!!!!! Maybe he fell in love :smiley:…....seriously playing 55 different positions with a team that was so disjointed didn't help

Things will only get better for him next year.

Is it the first trial of the year? Usually there's three - the first being a throw away game mainly consisting of a 'possibles' team of fringe first graders. The second has most of the first grade team then the foundation cup is the real trial.

If its the first trial then it probably won't answer your question of who will be in the final team.

Although considering we're most likely getting a new 1 and 7, I'd be giving them as much footy as possible

The game is advertised on the WTs site looks like the first trial so you are probably right about mainly fringe first graders.
