Yep thats right Sirro. Fight was postponed, UFC was already on the Main Event calendar, so they couldn't run both events live. Yes MMA or more accurately, UFC is growing at an exponential rate and may in the future be more "popular" than boxing in terms of ppv numbers and casual fanbase. I'm personally not threatened at all, boxing will always be here, whether of not MMA can sustain this level of popularity and continue to grow all the way up to UFC 500, etc is another story. I remember back when kickboxing was going to be bigger than boxing…

It comes down to personal preference. I've seen quite a bit of UFC, my old roommates were really into it and had dozens of the DVDs, would invite mates over, crowd around the telly and go mental. But like I said, I'm not really into it. Each to their own I say, like Sirro said, plenty of room for both.

they chose to show darchinian over ufc 100 only 2 months ago and when maywethers fight was rescheduled ufc 103 didnt even have a date set. i think a changing of the guard is upon us :wahoo:

Tua just punished Shane Cameron. Brutal.

And Colin Wilson punished Hopoate.

Im surprised about the Tua fight. I wasnt sure who'd win, but i expected Cameron to go well. Tua is awesome when he's totally fit and switched on, he's got the best chin in the world.

yea tua has the talent but he really doesn't care to keep fighting, he could have easily has world titles in the last 10 years but just hasn't cared enough to want them but hes brutal…. oh And Hoppa getting Knocked out was fun aswell

The Australian Contender starts November 2 (Ithink), keep an eye out for it on Fox 8, Garth Woods an old Balmain Tiger is one of the fighters, keep your fingers crossed for him.

Cheers

Wests Tigers congratulate boxer Daniel Geale on winning the IBF Pan Pacific middleweight title.
>
Geale is a massive Wests Tigers supporter and regularly did sparring sessions with the players throughout season 2009, both at Concord Oval and at the Grange Old School Boxing gym at Smeaton Grange.
>
Known as ‘The Real Deal’, Geale outclassed Brazil’s Samir Dos Santos Barbos to claim the vacant title. He won all 12 rounds to record a 120-108 verdict in front of his former home town.
>
Geale’s record is now 22 victories (13 Kos) for one loss. The victory now brings Geale closer to securing a rematch with Anthony Mundine.
>
Mundine recorded a controversial split decision victory over Geale for the IBO World Middleweight title in Brisbane on May 27.It was Geale's only loss to date in an outstanding career.
>
Wests Tigers looks forward to working alongside and supporting Daniel again in 2010.
>
Geale joins a long list of Wests Tigers celebrity supporters at the club including Jimmy Barnes, Anthony Field, Michael Clarke, Mark Schwarzer, Dawn Fraser and Grant Balfour to name a few.

Well can he beat the Man?

I think he can mate.

I scored their last fight a draw, and i think Mundine is on the decline, so i'd expect Geale to do the job the next time they meet.

Its truly amazing what Mundine has achieved, and i think people will be blinded by his personality and never really acknowledge what he's done, which is so sad. But as a long time supporter of his, i have to admit he's badly let himself down. Yes his achievments are beyond all expectation, but it could have been so much more. The guy had a period in his career when he could have matched it with the best and even beaten the best in the world. But he let that time slip, and being a reflex fighter, his time is up. You'll often find reflex fighter decline very quickly, while power fighters like Danny Green can box on for many more years. Mundine has lost that snap, and has no power anymore. His great defence will see him competitve against anybody, but he'll never reach the heights he could have.

I still maintain he's the most naturally gifted fighter this country has ever seen.

I agree with a lot of that - Mundine is a great athlete and he has acheived a lot but imo he is a major under acheiver. I was a fan and supporter but he has lost me by not stepping up in class. Now I'm basically just not interested.

I also prefer the UFC or MMA now. Anderson Silva is a fighter who has more ability & class than Mundine will ever have. Seriously the guy is about 20 levels above most fighters (boxing or MMA) that I have seen.

I definately wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of spiders kicks

Silva is a bad ass. All the champions are tough though - BJ Penn is awesome as is GSP.

Not so sure about the heavier weights - Machida got beat imo by Shogun. Brock Lesnar is just a huge animal.

Wednesday night 2nd of Decemeber, the great Roy Jones Jnr takes on Danny Green. I feel Roy will win easily, still a great chance to watch one of the best fighters of all time.

Other than that I have been watching the contender Australia on fox 8\. Garth Woods a former Balmain player is one of the fighters and I think an outside chance of winning. Fingers crossed for him.

Box on everyone.

Anyone see some of the Green and Jones fights on 518 the last 2 days? I just caught the Jones and Lacy fight which was Roy's last fight. Wow, he was unbelievable. It was the Roy of old. I gave Green a chance on wednesday night, but if Roy fights like that, he'll win an easy decision.

Cant wait to watch the great man live. I have pretty good seats too, so it should be an awsome sight.

Looking forward to the bout. Got it on PPV. Will be too tired to head out to the fight after work.

Your not wrong about Choc sirro. He's had some great achievements, but we'll always lament how much greater he could've been. He never took that big step across the pond to the U.S. like he talked about . He should've done it after Kessler, or at least after Green. He could've proved himself against the best in the world, or at least some middleweights with credibility outside of our shores, Calzaghe, Taylor, Pavlik, Lacy, Spinks, Wright, Trinidad, Joppy, Hopkins, Vargas, Bute, Mayorga etc. These are fights that he could've gotten if he went over there and pushed himself, maybe took a paycut and appeared on a big PPV undercard and showed people how talented he was, impressed some decent promoters enough to sign him.

Instead he fought local big money fights with Sam Soliman, Daniel Geale, Shannan Taylor and a dozen nevilles in between. Because it was too easy. Big fish, small pond. Thats all he is now.

Hey Choc. Danny Green, the bloke you beat years ago has come out of retirement and inked a fight with ROY JONES JNR. He actually went overseas and pursued him and brought him here. This is something you could've done easily.. I mean jesus, Roy Jones Sr was your trainer for the Green fight, you've met Roy Jones Jnr personally. Surely this is something you could've pulled together. If styles make fights Roy vs. Choc would've been a doosey.

Eh. Enough about Mundine. Looking forward to Post Jones/Green and seeing the evergreen Hopkins take revenge on RJJ.

Hey Sirro, have you been following the **Super Six World Boxing Classic**? http://sports.sho.com/world-boxing-classic.html

Again, another perfect opportunity for Mundine gone to waste. But its been good so far, a couple of upsets on both sides with Kessler and Taylor losing.

No i havent Danos, but i heard Kessler got beat by Ward. Would have been great to see Mundine and Sakio in that thing ay.

I was lucky enough to get decent seats to the fight as well.

I had forgotten how badly Green blew his fight against Beyer. Impatience and stupid tactics in the champs home town cost him what a more mature Green would have won

Yeh, the first Beyer fight was a tragedy. The second one though was an amazing effort by Beyer to turn things around. I believe Green blew that fight too, but the way Beyer was able to match him after the beating he took in their first fight was a great effort. Beyer landed a body shot early in the fight and it was the first time i seen Green hurt, from that point on it was Beyers fight.

Man Jones just doesnt have it these days - should have hung those gloves up years ago.

Well done to Danny….you didnt get to show us much but that was your competitions fault. See ya Roy....what a waste of time your visit turned out to be

Roy left his A game at home last night, well and truly. I thought Green was going to win before the fight, but I didn't see a round 1 KO coming. Good luck to Green though, he put the hard yards in and prepared as wel las he could have. Might be time for Roy to hang up the gloves.
