Braith v Robbie as captain

A classic case of a player who went better without the captaincy was Steve Menzies, but it was Beaver himself who put his hand up to relinquish the position.

Robbie is captain material.

Now what happens when Robbie is injured or at Origin? Braith vs Benji as backup captain would be an interesting conversation.

A discussion with some merit but I would be letting Braith find his role in the club first before burdening him with extra responsibilities. Robbie has picked up his reputation as captain and id be leaving him there because he is the guy to take us forward at this stage of where a are at. Braith will definitely play a part in our leadership though, no question about that.

I believe braith tried desprately at times to lead a struggling team as captain. I am looking forward to seeing how he goes at a new club with less pressure on his back. Keep Robbie he Is doing a good job, and braith needs the fresh start!

Quite a few on here wanted Farah replaced as captain by Marshall, or Ellis or Heighto over the years. Scratching my head why this would have been a good option in any way. Anasta will be a good leader around the joint but Robbie is heart and soul, and our best player by a street. Our best captain by a street. If Robbie is out I would seriously consider Anasta as captain because Marshall has been a very, very ordinary captain.

Farah leads by example, an uncompromising player who gives 100% and never backs down and most importantly doesn't give up.

Why would we want anyone else to captain the club?

I can't beleive this is a topic.

Farah to be captain as long as he wants it. Heart and Soul of our club. Living legend.

During origin maybe Anasta to be considered as I agree with another post that Marshall is an ordinary captain.

Anasta will play a role in our team and looking forward to his experience, input and cool head. The issue is where do you play him for the best balance of the team? Lock ?

im thinking a co captain roll tbh. anasta seems to have a lot of influence on the refs.
farah's main job would be to set the troops, give a general direction, motivate, inspire- the stuff he thrives upon.

anasta can do the boring jobs like talking to refs, post match pressie etc.

this way, farah can do what he loves, be the leader as well as ignore the boring stuff

Anasta should have a contract clause stating he remains 10m away from refs during play stoppages at all times.

Its by far his worst quality.

Farah to stay as captain for sure he bleeds for the tigers every week no way would You take it off him

Bingo….Robbies the best (C) weve ever had.

Anasta has a terrible r/ship with refs....rightly or wrongly, I think he gets a bum rap, but mud sticks, theyve marked him as trouble- its obvious

100% agree.

dunno what youre seeing tig prmz….its not influence

I thought Robbie was a bit tentative when he first took over the captaincy, but in the last 12 months or so he has really grown into the role. He is getting better and better - WT would be mad to take it off him now. Also, I think we will get the best out of Anasta by not burdening him with the captaincy, at this stage of his career. He will still have an enormous influence without being captain, in any case.

I'm looking at this objectively , would we get more out of Robbie if he wasn't captain and we gave the job to Braith (If we can find a permanent position for Anasta in the side)

Would his game go to another level without the pressure of the captaincy , Robbie is a great leader and an excellent skipper and if he wanted the job I wouldn't want to offend him and take it off him but I would rather see Braith talking to the referees and Farah plotting with Benji and Jacob about field position and what our plan of attack was so they were all on the same page

Sometimes the captaincy seems to weigh on Farah shoulders and the team doesn't need that especially if we blood some youngsters this season

Its just an idea and I feel it has some merit

Its the offseason and HAPPY is bored , thats the only explanation i can come to on this topic .

Some players relish the challenge and responsibility while others carry it as a burden. I think Farah embraces it and it makes him a better player. I also get the feeling the little bloke can carry a grudge like khomeini, so unless it was his own decision, relinquishing the © next to his name would not go down well at all. I for one could use a couple of weeks this year without rumour of internal unrest.

Robbie Farah bleeds Black, Gold & White and has remained loyal to WT to be given the © in 2013

No not bored 1/4

Just wondered if it would be for the better of the side to have Anasta as captain and Robbie as a senior player

Looked at his SOO performance and saw how much he seemed to have more freedom and it suited him

But I would only put it to him as a suggestion , if he was happy to remain as captain then leave it
