Breaking news: HBG takeover

I actually think this may lead to the owners going. Western Sydney is too important for the NRL, and I cant see any other motivation other than deliberate sabotage.

PVL said he'd step in, and I think this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
PVL would already have had a phone call with Richo and BOF , no doubt just to get some insight into what the hell is going on , he would know by now and would be organising what he is going to do , the guy don’t muck around , I think Richo was involved with the NRL regarding super league so he must be in with PVL good side , I hope he spills the beans on the HBG board , all of it

Maybe PVL is waiting for the silk’s advice to come through before acting. He’d be mad to do anything without a top silk’s advice.

You're problem is you assume everyone has good intentions.. it's on record from lee that there are directors at Wests and HBG who want the magpie back in the NRL.. the magpie is dead in the NRL.. it should and will never return.. Wests however will live on with their name... But these old wanksrs can't get over the fact the Maggie is dead... Rip you old turds
I understand your point of view and you have every right to suspect HBG are up to their old tricks yet again.
The issue is we now have swarms of Wests Tigers fans jumping up and down blaming the HBG dismissal of the independent board members based on the media reporting it is largely to do with the 2026 home jersey.
The statement from the HBG spokesperson states a different reason for their dismissal, so are we as fans really helping the matter by coming to our own conclusion without really knowing the real reason behind it ?
I suspect the recent post from Bigscreentv is highly likely the motive, but why would Richo via Barry O do anything that could lead to their own demise ?

Has it been confirmed this whole saga is over the 2026 home team jersey ?
I know that is the agenda being pushed by the media and who knows if that was part of the hidden agenda or not, but the statement made by the HBG spokesperson did not mention any issue relating to the 2026 home jersey.
Why would they?
They would be seen as the petty idiots they are.

Again, I still don’t know how they have power to sack board members, yet have no control over what jersey the team wears.

The challenge is that the NRL can probably only force the hand for governance change at WT and HBG would always hold veto. So we'd end up with the same circus whenever someone proposed something logical, that HBG didn't like for subjective reasons.

i.e. Both the jersey, grounds, and 1 state cup team are all logical decisions based on commercials and reasoning. The issue is purely subjective - not based on logic or the betterment of the club.

I'd say richo is making all those calls for increased sales (jersey), grounds (growth in cambo) and reducing costs (combining state cup teams)

The problem lies at HBG level. The question is, how can we change it. The NRL can try, but I think it comes back to NSW L&G and demonstrating that the club has ineffective governance. There is enough evidence for htat now.

It's a bit like a few posts yesterday supporting Barry O'Farrell's comments about HBG. Yet, BOF was shown to lie about the Grange incident a few years ago. He either lied or had a very bad memory. But, who forgets the gift of a bottle of Grange.
And, he also previously dumped WT like a bag of rubbish to take up that trade commissioner deal (in india i think). Not saying he's lying just not a paragon of virtue. Everyone's actions are governed by self interest.

How hard would it be for HBG or another Board Member to come out and say "we are fully behind Wests Tigers", there is no consideration being given to bringing Magpies back or anything like that.

Na.. they love the mystery. They love the articles. All that's seen at the end of the day is how many clicks we get, not how we got them.

Pathetic.

Records are kept on all board meets , who attends , minutes of meetings , the lot , we recorded our board meetings so there was no mistakes on who said what etc , if people don’t attend you can find that out
I asked BAGN05 who reported it - he has been having a go about everyone just throwing stuff out there so i wanted him to tell me who actually reported that they weren't attending meetings - no doubt he can't tell me because he was just doing what he accused others of doing.

My biggest problem with BOF is his competence. I don’t rate him. He led the Coalition back to power in NSW but that was on the back of years of Labor incompetence and corruption (e.g McDonald, Obeid etc).
He was guilty of the most appalling lapse of judgement in relation to the Grange which caused him to fall on his sword. He made a minor issue huge by lying.
I won’t miss him as Chair.

That's actually a normal structure. Not involved in day-to-day running, but can replace the board if they have good cause to do so.

The thing I don't get is that if things like jerseys were brought to the board, they can object and state their reasons. The other board members would know that their opinion carries the weight of a potential veto and take that into account.

... and if that wasn't brought to the board. The normal way to go is for them to also object and state their reasons, and it would be fixed with the thread of dissolution. Not the action of it.

Like... with the jersey. There is plenty of time to release a third jersey.
