We are a team with minimal impact players.

Brilliant post Hodgo, it puts things into perspective... the only thing I would add to the list is a Marquee/Franchise player as a few others have suggested.

Idk why everyone gets so downtrodden and thinks losses like last night are the end of the world. We bounced back after that poor loss to the Titans, and we’ll bounce back from this by probably winning our next two games.

I don’t think that it was because of the loss, I really think that it was because of the pathetic amount of effort that was displayed last night.
Madge has got to shoulder some of the responsibility as well, having a half on the bench is never going to win you a game.
Also that game plan 5 hit ups from the forwards kick from your own half and give them a set restart near the halfway line.
No thought of playing a bit of expansive football until 5 minutes to go, just bash and barge in one of the biggest packs in the comp.

We are a team that should have beaten the warriors last evening.

We are also team at whom excessively yelling and finger pointing, or kicking a chair because that which one had planned had failed, won't get WT anywhere fast.

For the umpteenth time we have no problem scoring points and we are doing so with what most consider is a rubbish backline. Our problem last night came from no go forward and yet the few times when we were in an attacking position we capitalized. The problems still mostly lie in our ability to dominate with our pack . The other major problem is a goal kicker can not win the close games without one.

Alot has been said about having a franchise signing.
But it’s useless without a plan.
Take David Fafita for instance.
If the tigers signed fafita instead of the titans at this current stage do you think it would really improve him and us?
Their are no other words for what the Gold Coast did for to get David Fifita other then they aggressively head hunted him.
But they did it with a plan.
Firstly the young half they have already on their books was Fifitas half at Keebra Park.
Tino signed early this year is his best mate and they have played in many rep teams together.
They have resigned outstanding young forward Mo Fotuaika.
Added Ese Ese
They have FAST backs in Semi, Tunipea, Thompson, Don, Brimson, Kelly.
It wasn’t just throwing darts at a board.

Well you can breathe easy at least because the 2020 finals tilt is over. We won't be good enough to win enough of the remaining matches against the opposition we face.

So in that respect the pressure is off and I guarantee you we'll go on some short winning run in the last 9 rounds, and maybe some folks will get their hopes up, but it will be in vain. Just enjoy the remainder of the year and then the oddity of having Origin before Christmas.

While it hurts we DO NOT have the team to compete every week.

What we do have is a coach trying to install hard work grit and determination. And we are seeing that in quite a few players.

What we have is a super positive recruitment process which is unearthing alot of talent.

what we have is positive for and against which is something I can't remember having for a long time.

What we have seen is some of the best performances a tigers team has shown in the last ten years in terms of grit, defence and determination.

Lets all be honest we are the average toiler at the moment and we are fighting for consistency.

Lets keep things i perspective we are fighting for an 8th spot but more importantly we are trying to build and identity let it happen there will be speed bumps.

I agree with much of this
I think the problem lays with the performance of a number of the players
Not the coaching staff or recent recruitment
We are signing some exciting young players
Its the older more experienced players that have been letting us down
Lets move them on
They have had years to prove themselves and they are just not capable

For starters we need two new halves that can create more
At least one speedy winger
More aggression in the front row
And more depth
Add to that a hooker that can last the distance after harry leaves
And maybe a fullback with pace

Well we don’t need much then where on our way to the promise land, just like the last 20years.Problem is at 64years old I think I will be in a box before we get to the promised land

Maybe we are all dead and just in purgatory, though purgatory suggests we will be cleansed at some point and ascend to heaven, so maybe not.

With you till the last line.

That's why I said Maybe
I think Doueihi is safe under the high ball but doesn't have that burst of speed we need
Maybe he is injured

Trouble is everyone is looking for a new Teddy, Turbo etc.

There once in a lifetime players - this guy we have imo will be good. Everyone that
plays FB doesn't have to be Eusan Bolt.

gotta agree, i dont get all the slow comments. Yes he's not as fast as tedesco but i remember teddy getting run down everytime.

I dont think your number 1 criteria for fullback is can he run 100m and score on his own

Good thread Hodgo. It’s good to have some balanced discussion amongst all the (understandable) negativity. There are plenty of positives to take out of the last 4-5 weeks of footy but the disappointing thing for me is that we could’ve won the majority of the games we lost. Even last night we had a shocker & were still within striking distance in the last 5 mins. People speak about the deficiencies in our squad. I believe we have the talent but as Madge said in his presser something ain’t right “between the ears”.

Plus a $375,000 cap penalty.

To me the fact is we are doing about the same this year as last ten years. I won't believe we are building to anything until we have made it there. I could make up all kinds of reasons sure and why we will finally be better soon, but I did that for years now and I am tired of it

Our roster still isn’t a top 8 roster that’s for sure. Rebuilds take a long time and Madge has only been here a season and a half.

It’s hard to be patient when it’s been so long but it is a slow long process unfortunately.

That’s what happens when there’s a new coach every 18 months. Just gotta stick it out with Madge and if they don’t want to do that, sack him now and bring someone else in.

I think a 9 year rebuild is long enough.

Not sure a preferred attribute of your fullback is being run around by a prop though

But as I said yesterday, why, with a better roster than last year, are we in a worse position? It doesn’t make sense. Before you blame the draw we’ve been beaten by two of the worst teams in the comp and haven’t beaten one team in the 8..
