Brent Kite possibly leaving Manly

A friend of mine who gets scoops by spending 16hrs a day reading rugby league forums , messaged me today to say that Brent kite deal was signed and sealed today

As a source I would say he is fairly reliable

Wasn't there another prop from NYC that everyone thought would get a run in NRL this year but had a shoulder problem?

Maybe Andrew Vela? not sure if he was ready this year but he does have potential. The stand out prop this year has been Mosese Fotuaika.

not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but supposedly Brent Kite's wife has recently bought a shop in Balmain.

She owns a shop in Manly territory at Collaroy

IMO he would be a good signing while we ease the talent we have in the 20's into FG over the next 18 months.

Agree with this. The young guns need time when coming through (Woods has been an exception) to consistently compete at the higher level and get over any set-backs (such as Groat has experienced).

While Kite is not as young and damaging as he once was, I do believe he is a smart prop (Woods alone would benefit from this). Plus, Kite still likes to charge into the defence, which we miss. It could be very good inspiration for other WT forwards.

From what I saw today, I dont think we need him. Only problem is both starting front rowers in NSW cup are moving on.

I think Kite has made it clear that if Parish is coach then he may not join us, not a great endorsement for our potential new coach. I wonder what the other signings think too and also potential signings i.e Jennings - but he seems like a mercenary anyway so may not make much of a difference to him.

Just saw this posted by NRL Gossip on FB

Shocking News: NSW police have today contacted Manly officials over the discovery of a male body, Sea Eagles officials have declined to make any comment. However, it's understood the inquiries relate to a member of this year's NSW Cup squad. #Daily Telegraph.

SMH now says unlikely to happen:

Last year's premiers are under salary cap pressure and will need to offload at least one player. There has been widespread speculation that Brent Kite could move on, particularly after Wests Tigers expressed interest. However, the former NSW and Australian prop is now likely to stay put. ''There's a 99.9 per cent chance he will stay,'' said Kite's manager Daryl Mather.

Sheens was probably behind the push for Kite which might have ended the move. Although it leaves us with the question, how do we bolster our pack?

thats a bummer. Potter needs all the troops he can get. Kite to play semi final football again in 2013 with Manly. To think that we nearly snagged him. No choice. Galloway.

is willie mason off contract?

He was awarded a two year contract extension with the Knights. Why would he come back to us anyway? Our board spat in his face and put Cashmere in front of him.

That decision still makes me chuckle.

Mick Potter might just have the answer. He must know of a few talented English propos who would be happy to sign with Wests Tigers for 2013.

A lot of people were divided on signing Big Willie, but IMO Humpty or the board got that call wrong. Sheens & the players wanted him but it was management's call not to sign him . Cashy gave his all, but the form Mason showed for the Knights proved to me beyond a reasonably doubt we got that call wrong.
