BRET Side For Round 3

Looking like a long season for both Balmain and Wests. Glad to hear Moors and BMM aimed up again. Should only do good things for their match fitness given Sheens is using them very sparingly in FG.

I watched the whole game and we are very, very short on depth compared with most other clubs.
Possibly the worst reserve grade side we have had in a long, long time.
I agree that Murdoch-Masila and Moors played ok, but to be honest I thought even they should have been more dominant against a reserve grade outfit.
Chisolm is a very dangerous ball runner, but does not take control of a game, his only chance of playing first grade would be as a fullback depending on how he goes in other areas of fullback play.
John Grant seemed lost and not real willing to get involved, he`s going to be wasted playing on the wing in that side, I think we should be playing him at either fullback or centre for BRET to force him to get involved and really find out if he has what it takes to play first grade.

Ye long season for Wests. They are a park footy side with no resources. What's Balmain's excuse?

Did Meaney play too?

I must say I dont think its wise we are playing our NRL benchies in reserve grade too….when we are this as tissue paper on troops as it is.

Whats the go?

Does anyone think the poor quality of our reserve side is due to sheens reluctance to ever play them in first grade when form or injury issues arise? Is this causing players to try other clubs? I admit I know little about state cup except from what I read on here, and am interested why BRET is uncompetitive.

ABSOLUTELY, sheens won't drop anyone on form there are a number of state cup players who should have tasted first grade by now.

This side is a big disappointment. They play like a bunch of blokes who happen to be wearing the Tigers jersey this year. Next year it could be some other jersey. Sadly thats the fact of life with Balmain these days. No team spirit. At least Sean Meaney is still there, otherwise its a revolving door. I want Farlow, Gower and Lazarus back please.

Its a business, you do want Sheens says….Magpies players and all.
Reserve grade means nothing

What is noticeable i the disspointment and lack of effort from NYC graduates for the most part.

Its a big step down in exposure and they play like it

Re: Sean Meaney - he gives his all for that side and never gives up. I don't think his best position is centre. He should be playing full back. He is one of the few that really cares about that side and it shows. He is worth his place in the side for goal kicking. I agree with you about Nathan Waters.
