Brief update on Teddy

Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor says star fullback James Tedesco’s comeback from a knee reconstruction is on track and that unless there are any setbacks he should be ready for the start of the competition.

“There are no guarantees about the exact date he’ll play, it was a pretty bad injury, but the way things are going at the moment I don’t see any reason why he won’t be ready for the start of the comp,” Taylor tells RLW.

“He may play a bit of a trial match, depending on how he is at that stage.”

Tedesco was hurt playing against Canberra in late June, when he rushed down to make the first tackle of the match and collided with Raiders five-eighth Terry Campese.

“He’s doing really well,” Taylor says. “He’s running again. He’s not in full training yet, but he’s not too far away. He’s very good physically, in relation to his fitness levels and stuff. He’s a guy who will get to the fitness levels required fairly quickly.

“It’s just about him getting to the point where he’s not favouring the leg that he injured. He’s just got to keep working hard on that, so that he’s not putting too much pressure on the other leg.”

Taylor says Tedesco has impressed him with his desire in one-on-one chats.

“He’s just looking for some luck and an opportunity to get back to his best footy,” Taylor says. “He’s one of those guys who everyone knows how talented he can be, but he’s just got to get some consistency going.

“We’ve got to establish that consistency in his training first, then we’re a chance of getting him on the field. He’s done everything really well, everything we’ve asked of him. The biggest thing is getting him to the point where both legs are as strong as each other.”

Good to hear is long as they don't play him too early. No big deal if he does not play the first game. As long he is 100% fit on the field.

That sounds like a confidence issue and playing in match conditions is the only thing that will see him past that

Everything is looking pretty good for Teddy,I hope his run of bad luck is over…..

If another severe injury happens to him and I certainly hope and pray it wont,I think it will be time to look elsewhere to fill his position....due to these injuries we havent had good value from such a talent on the books....

James biggest problem is he just pushes so hard with his recovery , understandable when he has missed as much footy as he has

He just wants to prove the doubters wrong and play his best footy with his mates

Reminds me of Dugan early on in his Canberra days…when he was on the field they were a totally different beast just like us with Teddy... it wasn't very often....

Happy I certainly hope he proves all the critics and doubters wrong with a magnificent display at fullback and remain injury free….

Haha I realise I put sauce not source littletiger.

I think it's as ink said. A confidence thing, once he can string a few consistent games together he should be sweet. Just hope that a bit of luck falls his way.
