Bromwich and Proctor caught with Drugs

Recreational drug use has been riff in the sporting world for decades, and Rugby League is no stranger to it either. Now while the use of recreational drugs is a community problem, the negative press about sporting bodies have bought this on themselves with there 'head in the sand' approach to it.

This is the 6th time this season this has raised its head, and is continually portraying a negative spin on the game of rugby league. I'd suggest the ARLC will be bunkered down over the next few weeks looking at bringing in swift and harsher policy about this to get themselves out in the community promoting a better image for the game. [They are never going to stop recreational drug use]

Once they start there spin in the media, look out who next gets caught!

Does anyone believe that recreational drug use is only limited to the NRL? Personally I believe that its use is prevalent in all sports - the key is how it is managed.

It is clear that the AFL and A-League have systems and support to keep it hidden from the media but they conversely they may have systems in place to highlight problems in the NRL. And this is where the rub lies - the question is whether there is a ploy by the big boys in the AFL to highlight 'problems in NRL'? Just odd that this all came up during this week of representative fixtures in the NRL in contrast to the clean A-League grand final. Personally I reckon that there is some real politik by other codes to degrade the game. It might be time for the supporters of the NRL to bring out the cameras and follow some of the AFL and A-league boys - I am quite confident that there will be some good footage.

It's not just the NRL. It's not even just sport.

Many blokes in my industry liked to rack up, especially the service boys as it kept them going.

It is only a problem because recreational use it is yet to be decriminalised. If you are getting out on the tiles prior to a game then that is an issue, else it is just part of everyday society and has been for a long time.

cant see cocaine being decriminalised any time in the new future

Drugs in Rugby League , it is way larger than anyone wants to admit , players know how to dodge drug tests , Clubs may also know how to keep issues in house , but they will all get caught one day
Clubs Mentioned in regards to drugs and players this year

Tigers
Titans
Storm
Roosters
Parramatta
That's what comes to mind now and is 5 from 16 , pretty poor but players using drugs at clubs would make that number real scary , my Prediction would be 16 from 16 I think all clubs would have a players playing around with the drugs weather it. Pot , Speed or other .
This week the players will all behave as this resent event with 3 players will fire the NRL up , players will, not bother with drugs but in a few weeks it will be back to normal , been like it for years I would say. IMO

Bye weekends coming up soon…. Lots of time for lots of players, woohoo.

Bromwich, a line or your test Captaincy - ouch.

Can't these blokes wait until the end of season to get on the gear? Why trash yourself with it during the season when you're meant to be in peak physical condition… Same as grog, would have thought it would be detrimental to high performance and rehab.

I know these blokes are adults and should be able to do whatever they like without hurting anyone else but it would just make sense to not fill yourself full of recreational drugs when you are relying on your body being at peak performance to earn a living.

sure most of us have done it in the past. I have anyway…

No comment, but thankfully mobile fones and CCTV werent around back then

Unfortuantelty…if they wanna take the huge pay packets that come with paticipating in a comp that doesnt condone this, then they must pay the penalty when sprung...simple as that

Both wont be considered for selection for the Kiwis in the World Cup….

Hard line stance from the Kiwis sends a strong message...moments of stupidity from these guys...slap on the wrist from their Clubs...
