Up to 10 Brisbane Broncos players have reportedly been caught in a massive biosecurity breach that could derail the NRL season.

The Courier Mail reported that police are investigating a group of Broncos - including Tevita Pangai Jr, who is on the brink of being sacked for a separate breach - for gathering at Everton Park Hotel earlier this month..........

I think this was around the same time that the laws changed to the ones now. a bit of a grey area around then but in the last 2 weeks, anyone caught likw bennet, vaughan, TPJ etc should be getting the book thrown at them.

Do they just not give two hoots?

Time and time again they continue to amaze me, they can't be that stupid, so they just mustn't care.

The problem to twofold:

1. the average player has been mollycoddled and wrapped in cotton wool since they were 15 or so - told they are the best thing since sliced bread and can do no wrong - they have an extremely overinflated view of their own self importance in the world in general
2. they know, their mangers and family know, that if they stuff up or give the finger to their club, fans etc, another club will step in and offer Hom a new deal coz they can fix the issue the other club(s) can't - but really all the new club cares about is getting the "talent"

So unless all the players "belong" to the NRL and a ban from one club immediately means a ban from all, it's never going to stop.

Whether its true or not, at least I applaud Robbo for coming out publicly and saying TPJ doesn't fit the mould and culture at his club so won't be taking him on.

Do they understand that they're doing themselves a disservice?

It's their own pocket that is going to cop a hit.
Once again, are they too dumb to realise this or do they just not care?

Nah , it’s literally , because a lot of them come from tough upbringings, are praised and made to feel like they’re above all this . That coupled with a general reality that lower socioeconomic means a higher probability of having a poor education , environmental factors as well as culture. And it’s an aggressive sport.
The NFL has the same issues. Also the army . The same type of young men are attracted to these things .

Firstly they're not Laws

Second, they've never allowed NRL players in pubs n clubs since the resumption

They don't see it that way - due to their over inflated view of self worth

Watch and see where TPJ turns up - I would bet he won't loose much $$ at all..... :man-shrugging:

I bring up education because , channeling energy into those things , and having a stable upbringing , can negate that recklessness. Also generally people still have the craziest ideas about intelligence and shame it .eg. Science is for nerds. .

I played both jr and a bit of senior rugby league, in NSW and Qld.
I've spent a lot of time being involved in Jr rugby league with all 3 of my son's playing, I've coached, first aid, league safe etc.

I've spent a bit of time around NRL players off the field also, (it was 15+ odd yrs ago) but in my experience I'd say they're both dumb and they don't care.
But I have to make it clear that they're not all like that.
But gee I've seen and heard some dumb shit, when average blokes spend enough time together they will probably eventually do something dumb, add the mentally of the average footballer to that and it's guaranteed.

But what boggles my mind is the fact that they go to places where they know they're going to be captured on camera but they still do it.

Yeah totally! I’m not excusing it , I’m just empathising , because that was me . Played footy at a reasonable level , got up to mischief . Stop playing , go to the other organisation mentioned , and the fun continues . There’s next to no recourse for being a turd .
Took me a long time to realise the really antisocial behaviour I’d become accustomed to.
Legacies of that still exist today .
It’s a real challenge .
It used to be ,”oh they’re just letting off steam” . That stuff doesn’t fly in 2020 . And I’m not sure it ever really did .

PVL has already said that if the season doesn't finish players will only get a FRACTION of their contract money because the cash just won't be there Ch9 apparently are tipping in 2 mil a week they weren't happy that the comp resumed because if the comp was later suspended they would have flushed quite a bit money down the toilet. ITS SIMPLE IF THE COMP STOPS THE CASH STOPS

Cancelling the comp might be a good thing. We’re out of the race and would deprive Penrith of a likely premiership.

Yeah I’m with you on that Avo! Penrith or any of the top 4 for that matter missing out on a Premiership would be good, though the Roosters with all their injuries might blow a sigh of relief.

Seibold to leave Broncos with $1M negotiated by his manager Issac Moses.

there is no way i take that money if I am Seioboldt.. his career is done if he leaves the Broncos now. I'd be negotiating $4m instead od $3.2m spread over 10 years. There is no way that I'd settle for anything less than $3.2m
