All you guys seem so good at stats and define a player by stats. I would love if all the stats lovers digged deep and found out what Andrew Johns stats were for a full season when he was Brooks's age.
I don't doubt Johns but i think he had alot more time to establish himself then what us WT'S fans are giving Brooks . Someone, some statacian on this forum, seek it out. It will put us all to rest.

It's not really a fair comparison.

Johns debuted in 1993 & played 3 games in that year .
By 1995 he was dally m halfback of the year & playing for NSW & Australia .
He would've been playing for he blues after about 36 first grade games .

Brooks debuted in 2013 & has played 78 first grade games

If Nathan Cleary plays for the blues next year it will be a similar timeframe to Johns .

Most of his line-breaks are from broken play. Most of the time when he challenges a set defensive line he just gets cleaned up by a 2nd rower or prop.

I think I've said it a million times, but members on this forum really need to go back and watch Daniel Mortimer footage from when he broke onto the scene and it is almost identical.

If one of his negatives is lack of confidence I don't think it will be boosted by Benjy coming back but on the bright side maybe Benjy can help him.

Snap.

Thanks Vlad. We all agree he is no Johns and your stats prove that. A real shame everyone put a tag on him to be the next Johns, talk about pressure? He should not have read into it coz obviously he has and is his own worst enemy. In saying that the kid needs more time a good team around him and a stable enviroment and I'm sure he will pull through.

It's tough to do because of so many variables. Joey's first full season was 1994.

His second season contained 20 teams, 2 of which were routinely flogged every week.

He also played behind a better pack.

His kicking game failed us at vital stages ….. looked better in attack .... but the jury is still very much out for mine.

He still struggles with his 5th tackle options, or getting in position to make a 5th tackle play, but hey he has improved out of sight over the past month

Yet got more repeat sets and Tries from a kick than DCE and Green today who are the masters at it…go figure...

Last night the Panthers were criticised at the end of the first half for very poor fifth tackle options. Go figure!

Let's not get too carried away …
If we beat the Roosters then we can go all the way

Brooks was very good today. High involvement, ran with purpose and seemed to run the team well. His kicking needs work but he earns a repeat set, kicked for a try and general kicking was not bad. He's like most halfbacks apart from Thurston and Cronk finds it hard to play on the backfoot.

I must add I've noticed brooks being involved in the middle a lot more but tonight brooks would have touch the ball just as many times as our hookers.
Every play was coming from him.
And the sweetener was seeing Brooks actually organising the team on every play. He was talking all game.
All in all its pleasing to see that Brooks actually seems to be improving a part of his game with each game his played since his come back from injury.
Not sure many could argue with that.

I agree somewhat. His involvement has improved and his dud plays are sort of declining. That said, many times today he seemed to have no plan and no clue what to do on tackle 6\. Even for the match winning try, we got the call on the obstruction play because Luke's pass to Ted was so poor that he had to stop moving completely to affect the catch.

He is getting better but is miles behind where he should be. Cherry gave him a bath.

Brooks was really really good. Yes at times DCE was all over him and DCE is the better player at this point but Brooks did enough.

I'm not expecting Brooks to be Andrew Johns. I'm expecting him to come up with quality plays consistently and to play to his potential.
