Brooks, Moses, Luani and Halatau sign with Wests Tigers

It's clear the club is building for the future which is good, but what about the short term, looks like another tough year next year.

I am fine with some short term pain for the long term gain, which with these re-signings are. It's good to finally see the club looking at the future, planning for the next 5+ years and actually making moves towards that goal, rather than the old promising it and never actually delivering.

The next 2 or so years we have some really experienced players in each part of the field (Farah, Anasta, Fulton, Richards, Halatau and depending on form/retention Galloway and/or Blair {I know his form has been poor but hopefully that is turning around}) to help the youngsters who then *fingers crossed* will step up and take the club forward for the 5-10 years following.

What rubbish …............ Halatau wasn't a leader with us and isn't with the Bulldogs.
More spin from the spin doctor :unamused:

You don't have to be a leader on the park to be a leader within the club and in the sheds.

I think Halatau is a good pick up, wouldn't be on big money, has experience, a decent head on his shoulders, and will be really good for the younger players and the team.

Fantastic news from the club!

Congratulations to Brooks and Moses on a long term deal at a young age, as long as they understand this is only the beginning, nothing is guaranteed in professional sport. A long road ahead but the club has given them the vote of confidence!

Luani with another 2 years is a good result, he has been playing good footy and deserves it.

Nice to welcome another WT premiership player in Halatau. You can't beat experience and leadership by example, he has this in spades!

All in all a great positive step for Wests Tigers today!

x 2 … great to lock up the best of the young talent and i have always been a fan of halatau's. very useful utility / backup player. welcome back dene

Like Halatau.

Can play a lot of positions. My guess is he will start off the bench and fill starting spots if people get injured.
Also he would be a good role model for younger players.

I dont see what Halatau offers that Fulton couldnt do !

Yep..more of the same. That's enough wingers and small backrowers thanks Grant… How about some big forwards next.

Thought I'd have a look to see what your fans thoughts are on Halatau signing, but had to make an account when I saw the reactions!

You guys are deadset kidding yourselves if you don't think he's a good signing. He's experienced and versatile and a great worker. Last year he was killing it for us starting out on the right hand side up until his injury in the last 8 weeks of the season or so.

This season he's only getting 10-15 minutes a game but no way it's because of bad form. It's because Josh Jackson is a gun young kid, Pritchard is one of our better and stronger forwards and fat f**k Tony Williams can apparently do no wrong in Hasler's eyes. Ask any Bulldog fan if they'd prefer Halatau or T-Rex and you'll get 99% of them saying Halatau…the 1% are either Des Hasler or closet Manly fans loving the fact that Williams is an overrated dud.

We also have a few youngsters like Carter and Burr coming through. (and Finucane there but he's more of a lock than a wide running hole hitter.

I wish Dene all the best and I reckon he will be a good player for your bunch. Would not be surprised to see him play decent minutes too.

No one is questioning if he is a hard worker, what we are trying to say is he is too small and we have a small backrow as it is..

Plenty of nice things to say about him here.

I doubt we paid him overs. I imagine the Dogs just didn't make him an offer at all.

Good signing, small and much of the same but I like it. He will help brooks heaps same as Fulton, he will take the hard hit ups when noone wants to. I think he is in the team to also help siros change, cause I believe siro and brooks will be our halves combo.

I like him, and I think he will show you guys up and can't be worse than pettybourne

The younger guys good luck to them hope it all works out ,the right move by the club to secure them long term . These signings don't excite me as it's all speculation about the young ones not even 1 game in the NRL yet!
Dene is a great signing the culture at the club is changing rapidly and will accelerate in the pre season so a guy like Dene helps this off the field, will be pushing hard to secure a starting spot but covering for Farah is a major plus and I must say have watched a few Doggies games and he still has some pace and defends well. I'm not as pessimistic about next season as some I think the squad is coming together nicely still need some size in the forwards but if the injury gods are willing the Tigers should go pretty well not a premiership but competitive.

"Club CEO Grant Mayer says that the signing of Halatau was about much more than just football.
“His experience and leadership as a senior player is going to be invaluable for some of our younger players,’’ Mayer said. “We have been very clear that we are investing very heavily in our juniors and a player like Dene will provide leadership and mentoring for the group. This is a strong signing for the club as he adds depth to our club both on and off the field. _**Dene has a fantastic reputation in the game as a true leader.”**_

More spin from the spin doctor :unamused:

Glass half full or half empty ?
After Four years @ the dogs he must be over 200 first grade games
He would know have to classified as a senior player

Welcome home Dene Halatau to the best club in the world and happy we re signed our young halfs long term the future is looking good. Btw someone asked our ceo is there more signings out side the club he said we have to wait and see so there might be more.

Another fringe first grader , we are to Cantebury what the Sharks are to the Tigers

We get the Bulldogs 5th best prop and now 5th best second rower

Wonder who their 5th best centre ,winger, five eight ,halfback and hooker are
