$600k is only half of what Cherry Evans is on, are they half as good as him….I would think so. In that case the money probably looks to be on the mark.
Regarding the Storm, I didn't think Bellamy had agreed to coach past the next season or maybe two....so who would want to go there not knowing who the coach will be.

i understand the club has made a mess of the cap but seriously…. players get paid whatever someone else is prepared to offer and pay them. its that simple.
im not sure why people are so upset or saying "he hasnt proven himself" etc etc
its how the market works.

Yeh I disagree with those who say they are overpaid. The supply of quality halves in the NRL is low, so to secure good ones it cost more money than other positions. They are on much less than the likes of DCE and Thurston but more than the likes of Sam Williams, Blake Green, Chad Townsend etc. $600k is close to market price IMO

The way I see it is the message to young players theses days is that if you perform outstandingly as juniors as Brooks and Moses have both done then you will be on the radar for all NRL clubs.Their will be a window of time where clubs will be prepared to take the risk and pay overs in hope that the potential will produce the goods especially for halves. Brooks and Moses are at that point now and they would be foolish not to consider options to further their career - and playing in a club with a stronger roster may be more beneficial to their long term career than sticking with a struggling club now - regardless of what we pay them. If stronger clubs match our offer their loyalty and their desire to play together will be really tested. Hard to determine which way they will go,

Again i look back to when they were just kids coming through. Their agent met with a dozen clubs who was gauging what was out there. After their contracts were signed Brooks came out and said he simply told his manager he only wants to play for the Tigers and for him to get him the best deal he can with us.
I'm fairly sure something similar is going on now. Simply an agent looking to gauge market value in order to get the best deal possible for their future with us. The money we're offering is very good. They play with the mates for the club they grew up adoring. They are given increasing amounts of responsibility and have been backed 100% by management to lead us into the future.
The fact Gus Gould came out and publicly said we are not and will not be looking to sign Brooks or Moses just illustrates how much crap is written by under pressure journos, who are often fed crap from agents looking to work a certain PR angle…

JOHNATHAN Thurston admits he feels sorry for promising Wests Tigers half Luke Brooks.
The greatest playmaker in the game believes not having a more experienced seven to learn under can impact a young player’s development but was full of praise for the cub when asked to name the young halve who he believes has a bright future in the game.
When Thurston first burst onto the scene for the Bulldogs back in 2002 he was contending with Braith Anasta and Brent Sherwin for a place in the halves.
Not only did that provide Thurston with stiff competition for his preferred position but it meant he had two experienced players to learn the subtleties of the game from.
It’s a luxury Brooks has not been afforded with the 21-year-old who debuted in 2013, the senior half in a young Tigers team with his co-pilot Mitchell Moses, 21, debuting the year after.
While Thurston ultimately left the Bulldogs in order to cement a starting spot in first grade, his three years in the top grade serving his apprenticeship under Sherwin and Anasta provided lessons which were invaluable.

“Young Luke Brooks for the Tigers is still learning the game but an amazing talent and no doubt he’ll be a representative star of the future,” Thurston told foxsports.com.au.
“It’s tough when you’re at that age and you get thrown into it without having the leaders around you that play in that position and I think those boys (Brooks and Moses) are doing a great job without having that leadership around them.”
TEDESCO: Cub trio unlikely to stay together
In the past five years the Tigers have lost halves Robert Lui, Jacob Miller, Benji Marshall, Braith Anasta and Blake Austin.
While the bulk of those departures were out of the joint venture’s hands, the emergence of Brooks and Moses played a role in Austin’s move to Canberra.
The club backed the inexperienced duo to rise to the challenge, having dominated at the lower levels as they ascended to the NRL.
After starring in his NRL debut against the Dragons three years ago, Brooks drew comparisons from fans and experts alike to that of eighth Immortal Andrew Johns.
Branded ‘the next Joey’ by the media, Thurston believes that kind of pressure is something no kid needs, regardless of how good he is.
“It’s unfair pressure,” Thurston said of the lofty expectations placed on the youngster.
“It comes from what development officers and coaches say about them.
“What the media hypes up — I was lucky coming through, Braith was playing for Australia at the time and Brent Sherwin was at the height of his game.

“I’ve played with Mitch, all my junior footy. We know each other’s game and we’re comfortable with each other.

Our backrowers did not provide enough support in defence, especially Lawrence and Sironen.
Hopefully both will improve this year, if they cannot their replacement will need to be find between Sue, Edwards, Aloiai, Chee-Kam, Cassal and McConnahie.
IMHO, Parahi and Griffin will fight for #13 position.

Who says they're in a position to go to a stronger side? Maybe the reason our side is weak is cos our halves are weak. If I was being brutally honest I couldn't think of another side in the comp who'd take our halves over the ones they've currently got.
