A bit surprised that Twal and Matterson are not in that squad…

Yeah .. at the World Cup, Twal played his heart of for Lebanon .. who filter coached, and Fittler even said then that Twal is the next big thing prop out there .. how funny one forgets what one says .. maybe its easy just to throw these words out to the press like click bait.

But hell yeah Twal should be in there for sure .. !!

Maybe because he’s already been in an Origin, and while he didn’t Star, he went ok, and that experience will be handy for him this year.
For his first run, he handled it ok and will have first crack at it again

There was a post here ,that was asking why Cleary was in the emerging group,, that’s what I was answering.

NOt sure where that post is,
I came back here a while back and when I signed in a notice came up saying “this site is not a secure site”
Not sure what was happening

Assume it's the traitor's son.

Guys, you want origin quality players, playing in your side that do not get picked, benefits are, cheaper, available all year round, less chance to start fronting up with extra demands.
Disadvantages are they do not get to experience the origin camp and flavour.
This is why Emerging Squads are valuable.

Secondly GCT, N Cleary was named in an extended training squad.
Everyone named in that squad has been part of or been around origin already. This indicates that unless something drastic changes, those 30 odd players are likely the make up of the yearly squad.
Agree re Matterson and Twal. Matterson was picked in Freddy’s City Origin side at Centre after less than half a dozen games whilst playing 5/8\. Perhaps Fitler wants to give him time to make the transformation to full time Second Rower. Twal did get very limited minutes by the end of the year and may need to work a bit to build a reputation still.

Emerging squad …..

How many of those blokes have around 100 games

Shouldn't an emerging squad be players of the future , identifying young talent ??

Im really happy for moses, he really gave it his all at the eels last season and he deserves a blues jersey :unamused: :roll

Would be very interesting to know the stats for a halfback being selected in any sort of rep team (even a train on squad) just after they won a wooden spoon.

This may be a first.

Interesting that Matthew Lodge is there.
So lets get this straight, if you Royally stuff up but are still talented. You get to walk from your contract and be picked by a top 4 team for peanuts after serving 6 months or so in purgatory?

Funny how "brooks" and "moses" are still developing, while Nathan Cleary is in the squad.

Ouch 😱pen_mouth:

Terry Lamb won the Dally M player of the year at five eighth for Wests, who come last.

Fittler is just grooming Brooks before the poach.
Trust me.
This is buttering him up with origin talk and Roosters will swoop in once Fittler gives him a taste.
Happened with Teddy and it will happen here.

I tend to agree.
