Brooks re-signs - Reportedly

I am hoping Mitch also re-signs, as there is alot of upside to him, remembering he is only a young bloke with a ton of talent who would benefit from a coach like Ivan.

Mitch needs to remember that the club got rid of both Blake Austin and Te Mare Martin, in order to give him the rails run as the long term 5/8 for our club. Not many players get that luxury as they are finding their way into the NRL, and is a favor he should repay to the club.

If he turns around and runs off at the first chance, it will say a ton about his character.

Great News… Poor Kid has been stuffed around for a while from his manager!

Ivan can build a team around Luke Brooks!

We need to go buy the forwards first , you don't build a side around a halfback unless he is from the top shelf of the bar

Minute Cronk said he was on the market the club should have burnt his and Moses's contracts and told them we are starting fresh

Reckon 550 k is way overs if we are talking solely salary cap $$$'s , 400 k is on the mark and then you place performance bonuses if he meets his KPI's

If Moses moves on, there's halves available in the market to get an older head in to pair with him.

I'd approach Cronulla to make a move on Maloney, so they can chase Cronk. He's only signed for 2018.

Cronk could retire, after all he has nothing to prove and would go out as a winner on his own terms.

Meh …. The kid was desperate to re-sign as no other clubs showed much interest in him .

Just hope Cleary can turn him into something !

Let's hope Cleary can turn him into a man first. He still a scared boy out there.

Now that I look at it from a different perspective and how many on here have backed Brooks signing,me included at that price,Moses may have tried to dominate through all the games and has restricted Brooks doing what he does best and was let go to do it..Cleary wont stand for anyone not playing to his structures and gameplans…Moses time might be up with the "look at me attitude"....I hope for Brooks that Ivan can coach him in a diferent way and his best games are ahead of him..good luck Luke well done on committing...

I reckon Woods will accept the WT offer they have tabled…..and he will re-sign before Saturdays game....

Yep thats how I see it too….

I met him at the HHH one evening during finals last year and he was very approachable and even helped record a happy birthday message for a mate of mine who was there celebrating his birthday and was nervous to go and talk to him. Niceness <> great footballer, however, it goes a long way to being able to connect with fans, and if you can do that, its half the battle won.

Doesn't anyone think that Cronk would announce that he was retiring if he had his release confirmed? He may also want to test himself in Sydney to see whether he could replicate the success he had at Melbourne. He seems a very driven fellow.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to try.

I didn't realise that Josh Reynolds is also coming off contract this year. So that means Cronk, Reynolds, Moses, Townsend are all on the market.

If we lose Moses and the Farah salary works its way out of our cap, we can make a play at someone to compliment Brooks.

Or we just play Rankin in the halves.

Hasn't been made official yet. If you go by the media, we've also signed McQueen and that isn't official either but according to our mate Smoking Gun, McQueen might not even happen. I'll wait until the club announces when a player signs, not the media.

We can not afford to sign the four of them, okay we might have the cap space, but we have so many holes to fix we need a bucket of cap space to spread right across the roster. So fingers crossed Teddy signs and I am not to fussed about the other two considering the amount of money they want. We need a winger, centre, backrower, front rower and some handy depth players and I am afraid 400g is about the starting point for a NRL standard player these days

Happy with this, the figures are OKAY. Honestly wouldn't pay more than 450k for him.

Though, Moses has got to go, can't keep both.

Couldn't agree more. We need someone more experienced in the halves now.

I think this was the only real option for Brooks.

Everybody seems to be putting a lot of faith in Cleary finally coaching Luke into a good halfback.
Will his tackling improve? It hasn't under the bevy of coaches he has had to date.
Will Cleary teach him when to run and when to pass? Really? Then Cleary and Brooks will need to be miked up every game.
I see Cleary continuing on from all other junior and senior coaches - reducing the mistakes in his game.

Don't get me wrong, Brooks must have talent to play first grade but if the coach is going to turn him into a star give me the coach that spent most time with Thurston.

I could never understand how Brooks/Moses combined as a great halves combination for many years before they played first grade for Wests Tigers yet when they did play together in first grade they just seemed to lose so much of that combination. Maybe it won't be such a bad thing if Moses doesn't sign with Wests Tigers. There are quite a few good halves coming on the market who would combine very well in first grade with Brooks. Reynolds from Bulldogs would be my first pick.

I can forgive his defensive issues. Halves as a general rule of thumb struggle defensively. He does seem to apply himself in defence at times and has pulled off some stellar tackles on blokes twice his size. The ability is there. We don't defend well as a unit and that sees him get isolated and bumped off with ease.

He needs significant improvement in his consistency and attacking game. He lacks confidence to draw and pass which is a shame as he has a decent running game, and when he does have a go his passing leaves a lot to be desired. His kicking game is virtually non existent and also needs a lot of work.

This is where Cronk would be hugely beneficial to a player like Luke. I think Moses is ahead of him as a player but Moses is just as inconsistent and commands significantly more money for not much more benefit.

You need to look at this from another angle perhaps…

I agree that Brooks has a bad mistake in him but a lot of that is due to the Tigers only having one go to man in Tedesco. The old fling it out the back, second man play that gets read every time now. Brooks has never had the pleasure of being able to hit a Aitkin/Jennings/Chambers/Mitchell/Ferguson on an overs or unders line in his life. He's never had the pleasure of having Taumololo/Cordner/Yeo/Frizell/Papalii running a hole to create either get us going forward, put doubt into the defensive line about where he will play to or create quick second phase play to work off the back of.

With Cleary on board, I truely believe we will start to see a lot better game plan as well as quality First Grade stars, the like of which we haven't been able to attract and you will see Brooks' game reach another level the more and more confident he gets.

I see good times ahead regarding Brooks.

Good start. Moses is key don't understand people rating Brooks higher. He has been terrible this year but I think Teddy and Moses are the key players we need to retain.
