Brooks under pressure

Who do you suggest recruiting?

Would you rather Brooks or Ben Hunt?

Brooks can fill a roll short term so i would recruit a good young half who can put pressure on him from the first day at the club. Brooks needs to be on a short leash and understand its just not enough to say its your team now. or swear at Robbie Farah, he actually has to lead us when the pressure is on.

I feel as though Brooks is playing too structured and not playing his natural game. Madge has tried turning him into a legitimate half-back by playing him into a structure which doesn't suit Brooks' style. He was on fire last year because he was roaming and had that free flowing style in his game. Think Madge needs to re-think how he utilizes Brooks.

Maybe if Brooks was playing off Parra’s current platform and up-tempo play then Brooks would be able to “take charge”.

I agree with all of your post except for this part. Our forwards have gone well so far this year.

They were smashed against the dogs. The dogs forwards dominated us.

No they didnt. Our 5/8 was pathetic and our last tackle options were pathetic. It put our forward under enormous pressure. They hung tough.

The forward got us to the 20 at least 10 times in the first 50 minutes, our halves blew every opportunity.

Sorry, but that’s a bit of a cop out answer.

There seems to be a number of members posting the, “Brooks is crap and needs to go” argument. I have no problem with his performance being questioned, but I want alternatives suggested.

Who is the top rate half we should be chasing, or the good young half? Suggest some names rather than pushing a generic argument that he is crap and should go.

Last year I would have entertained Segeyaro, Rein, Robson, Parcell, Lawton, Tevaga and others being chased before going backwards to Robbie.

The cop out is ignoring the fact that he cant get it done under pressure.

Its all well and good when we finish 9th but if we want to play finals its a massive issue.

If you look at halves that have moved recently, there is Hitango, Lamb, Cogger, Lino, O’Sullivan. Would you prefer any of those over Brooks?

Johnson would have been an option. We could also consider players like Jai Field and Sam Williams that are back ups at their current club, but there cannot be a discussion without reviewing the options

Ive given up on him being a leader and an organizer. He just doesn't seem to have the smarts for that role.
He is an instinctive ball runner. He is never going to be the player to lead us out of trouble, and or take control of a game. He may be the player however to create a freakish move to get us out of trouble.

So who replaces him?

Cooper Latte Cronk..

My question is would Cooper have us playing finals footy..?

If he bought half the current rorters squad with him the magic 8 ball says YES..

And there’s your answer about ultimate performance for not just Brooks …. but any halfback in NRL.
Foran had a ball against us couple of weeks back. Our forwards got dominated by Bulldogs pack just like last year. Pay knew and remembered and had them ready again. Our pack learned nothing.
By the way I reckon that we have a weakness in our starting pack ...... Garner and Matterson should not be on the field at same time.
And Taylor? If I can read Madge from his tentative initial forays into the players market ..... he will not be locking our scrum next year.

But Dally M halfback of the year means nothing, haven’t you heard? It’s made an embarrassment of the competition and our team, apparently.

You fail to read what I was actually emphasizing but that's ok. You got your little rant off your little boy chest.
I like Mitchell's no fear arrogance, he rides his team mates for stuffing up out there.
Never have I seen Brooks even so much as open his mouth in the huddle behind the posts after conceeding.

Brooks doesn't have the personality to lead a team around the park. That's what I'm saying. Mitchell can.
Also, never once did I say Brooks needs the boot. He just needs a different role. He needs to be free of the responsibility.
Give the steering to Reynolds and let Brooks play a natural game.

Ummm…Dally M is a joke of an award.
FYI Voting points for each game are by one random league associated person who may not have even watched the game they vote on.

Buying into it and using it as the only defence for Brooks is just sad.
But that is exactly what some fans here are constantly doing. Which is even more embarrassing than him winning the award in the first place.
The joke is on us. At least some of us get it.

I’d have Mbye at halfback.
I know he was recruited for fullback, but he is a competent halfback and Thompson can slide into fullback beautifully.
It’s a no brainer for me.

I admit to going hard on Brooks … only because he is not doing what our team needs him to do.
Yes, he’s fast and a good runner of the ball, and yes his defence has improved heaps.
Unfortunately that’s not what this team needs from a halfback.
