Brooks: What exactly has gone wrong?

Do not know what is wrong, but I do know 80% of the time he kicks when we are in good field position results in us losing it.

What had Brooks done over five years? Overrated clueless player who shouldnt be anywhere near the ball.

I think you just found him a perfect role...decoy!

Instead of looking at the individual players like Brooks, we need to figure out why we’re not getting the best out of any of the halves. Brooks looks lost, and Reynolds, Walters have looked similar.

Parra have Joey working with their halves, I have no idea what we’re doing.

Employ Matty Johns he worked with Cooper Cronk at the Storm, and I think he turned out okay.

Well apparently we are only one of a few clubs that make a profit so we should be able to afford these sort of coaches.

The reason the club makes a profit is they do not spend money .. you can not compete if you do not spend . I am getting the impression that Wests Ashfield are not that committed just want to make up the numbers , the successful clubs have people that are driven to be winners others clubs have people with divisive issues and agendas. I suppose never playing finals footy for nearly a decade speaks volumes on the mindset of the people running the club !

He also shared on his Sunday Night show that he helped Munster, a few years back, with his transition into the NRL. Said he was struggling emotionally with it and we all know he's gone onto another level or two in that period.

In the words of another poster, the club should be putting an end to all bandaid solutions. Some of these wounds are festering a bit now.

I don't know what has gone wrong with Brooks. The first thing I notice with him is he looks a little lost and lacks intent. For example, the way he puts up his bombs looks robotic. He doesn't look like he has faith they are the right option. When attacking inside the opposition 20m, he runs when he should pass, and passes when he should run. I also feel the shape outside him is not creating enough opportunities either for him or his teammates. I am not sure if this is his fault or the coaching staff's fault.

The actually spent more on the football dept bringing Hartigan from the Rorters and Andrew Gray the high performance guy with his bells and whistle's from the Sharpies both from Successful Clubs in 2020...some 2mill more than the previous 3 seasons..

Not enough threads on the subject..

Agreed he has had too many, but they have been emotional or reactionary ones. 'Brooks is rubbish!' 'Brooks is not a half' etc. Ultimately we learn nothing.

I would like to just analyse the stats and work out why.

Assists 16
Down to 1.

Running meters down 30.

Those stats represent a stunning decline.

Is it confidence? Madge's game plan? An injury we don't know about? Does not gel with the nines? He is being overcalled by others? There has to be some sort of explanation?

OK..but last night it was Brooks who dug in the line and got a quick play the ball for Liddle to score..then a pass out to Benji with width to throw a cut out to Nofoaluma ..so there are involvements in points we are scoring..it's ignored.

Even happy said last night he busted his arse trying

So he dug in the line .....he has barely put in a toe in the water

Seems to be working ? I think high performance guy is a stretch anyway the proof is in the pudding ! It’s all about results or the lack of!

He looks to have lost the love for footy. As mentioned in another post there are guys in our team collecting pay checks not because they love football but because they are good at it.
I’m not sure Brooks fits entirely in this category. His long had desires of playing a high level of rugby league since a young age and always wanted to represent the tigers. What isn’t certain is how he views rugby league. Is he a student? Or is he someone that just relied on his talent from a young age. He rarely talks about a game from an analytical view and his response last week after the Bulldogs was interesting. He mentioned he didn’t know how we were going to attack the roosters game because he hasn’t had that discussion at training yet. Other halves would say a little spill on where they feel the opposition strengths and weaknesses are and how best to exploit them. His almost robotic, is it through lack of interest or is he just not an intelligent individual?

Great suggestion. It's long overdue our halves receive specialist coaching from outside the Club.

It's a real shame Dally M, whether he deserved or not, be had a great year that year. I dunno. The whole team looks kinda disorganised I guess.

I’ve been really impressed with Adam Clune the last few weeks. Not suggesting we sign him cos I hate those kinds of posts. It’s echo chamber stuff. But if we could get that kind of output out of Brooks, he’d cop a lot less flak. He’s playing nowhere near Clune the last couple of weeks.

People are dumping on a guy that has had no genuine forward pack infront of hims since he came to first grade, and hasn't even had a regular, skilled hard head number 6 with him constantly to share the load. He's out on his own.
