Brooks: What exactly has gone wrong?

I don't think brooks, or any of our players would have the minerals to say something like this to madge....

anyone think these comments in Kent's article today were about Brooks?

"Coach Michael Maguire called a player into his office at a crucial point this season and tried to get an understanding why the player failed to contribute to the gameplay the way the coach preferred, which obviously drew an unsatisfactory response.

Still, Maguire was eager to hear his defence.

“You don’t coach the way I like to play,” admitted the player.

Maguire had two choices at this. He could reach across and slowly throttle the player, simultaneously removing the player from his roster but with the added benefit of also creating considerable salary cap relief, or he could take the more diplomatic approach, which isn’t generally regarded as a strong point.

“How many finals games have you played?” asked the coach, who finally chose the latter, the jury still out whether it was for the better.

“None,” said the player.

“Well, how about you try it my way.”

No, I do not think they are about Brooks. I think he has had it drilled into him to blindly follow the coaches instructions.

Unless Madge's instructions are to play what is in front of you and be prepared to throw our structure out the window when you see an opportunity, then I don't know what gameplan he was failing to follow.

I don't think that aligns to Madge's gameplan, so unless this was another DT POS article I am struggling to work out which player this relates to.

think it might really be Brooks. Madge has always wanted him to take control and be the dominant playmaker and for whatever reason he hasn't done that. he played his best footy under Cleary who was known as being gentle and having a smooth approach. would make sense with Brooks's horrendous form that this is the case unfortunately.

He’s having his best season in first grade, so I doubt it.

Brooks looks to me to be the first player walked.
He’s taking the piss and wasting his talent much better player than he is showing.

We are not better releasing him but it looks like we will get much worse keeping him.

Ill admit I was wrong I’ve been backing him forever. He has the ability but by now there arE no excuses. At best he will see out next season but if be certain he will be cut loose in the offseason.
