Brooks.... what is he good for??

He had one bad game last week - taking into account that he will possibly never rise to level of expectation that some have of him. He is still our best option. Fans can call for sackings and offer options every week with no accountability. If Maguire drops him and puts in a rookie and it's a complete disaster he and the team wears it. Even with the two recent losses we remained competitive and within striking distance of the eight. We already have numerous injuries preventing from fielding our best team - dropping Brooks on top of that is a big call.

Completely agree. Brooks and Mbye won’t be dropped.

Walters is a smaller version of Brooks. We don't need him in the halves. He's a backup hooker.
Madden is an organiser with a good long kicking game. Is he up to first grade? Who knows. The lack of CC is very disappointing for the likes of him as he can't push his case. But if we drop Brooks he's the only option we have. He has the potential skillset that we lack, playing Walters just because he's played a handful of games is just stupid.

Can't see Brooks getting dropped yet though. Madge took off Harry when he could have taken either Brooks or Reynolds off and both were awful. But rather than hook one he moved Reynolds to hooker and then to lock when Grant came back on

Was Reynolds at lock when Grant came back on? I assumed he got dragged, I didnt see him get involved at all afterwards.

Yes, all four when on the field for about 5 mins.

Truth is Brooks has played one good half against the Cows this season. He's in his prime, yet still the sidekick rather than the main man. If he stays Madge desperately needs to find an organiser so brooks can go back to just running plays . 1 try assist in 2020 doesn't even have him in our top 5 playmakers

He has had one good game all year. All the rest have been meh or crap.

dropping Brooks on top of that is a big call.

**Not** dropping him is a bigger call.

Brooks dropped

who is there to replace mbye if he is dropped we are very short on centres atm, i would not mind seeing brooks off the bench and play dummy half to give grant a rest

I stated in another post that Lukes running game is excellent and great to watch, however he seems to have stagnated in that department and I reckon he has a niggling injury because he has had no decent running game in the last 2 games...
Granted Madge has dropped him for defensive issues as he did Benji,he certainly is fair when it comes to those decisions, but I also reckon he knows Brooks has a niggle....

Wow, go Madge. Not afraid to make the hard decisions. Brooks at half I would have thought was the more secure position at Wt throughout the past several years. Good on Madge for setting his expectations and standing up to his word through his actions.

Here's hoping Walters smashes it, and Brooks works hard to lift his game to the level we require.

Shame we can't see Benji and Reynolds finally, but ah well. Good luck Billy

Didn't they play in the earlier rounds? Believe we got flogged by Knights with them in the halves.

Must admit wasn't surprised one bit by Brooks being dropped, but take no pleasure in it as it only highlights that while the team is moving in a different direction some things stay the same. (Ivan did the constant team shuffling during his first year and it was irritating to see him not work on any attacking combinations and I feel it's a little deja vu).

Thanks to a response from @Needaname I finally understand how Brooks' lack of game involvement and management is one of the biggest contributors to our failure (as a team) to be in the best possible position or even be in the game.
So hopefully this step from Madge takes Luke - despite his axing - and the team to the next level. As a fan seeing us go nowhere is the most frustrating thing and I look forward to a silver lining.

Brooks probably needed a rocket tbh he isnt pushing the team around like whats required of a half back, in saying that personally i think he's a running 6 never has been a half back but thats just me.

It's surprising to hear he missed 9 tackles. That's very un-Brooks like. And if the stats are correct, you'd think that Madge would have considered it a one off. So I think there's more to the demotion. Saying Brooks defence isnt up to scratch doesn't really wash with me.

Go Madge? Mbye retains his spot after missing four tackles which all resulted in tries. Seems like Magiure doesn't have the fortitude to do what should have been done earlier and drop Mbye,.

I reckon Madge has been itching to get a chance to see Walters in the halves. I have a feeling he's actually better than the other three lol.

Mbye has been on of our better players this year. His defence has been pretty good. One bad game and he should be given a second chance. Brooks is up to his 100th chance.

It had to happen ! players with long term contracts and are comfortable will still be at the club . While the coach has no success is shown the door a coach will only tolerate comfortable players for so long .
