I thought we look stupid not playing him last night..but it appears Madge wants to move him on..

I like Maguire and think he'll bring us some professionalism but leaving Grub out last night is one of life's mysteries. I was sure he'd be in the 14 jumper.

I trust he'll get a run next week but I think it's a fortnight late. And I pray it's not at dummy half - I'd be inclined to throw Benji in at hooker. I think Brooks will get a fine, not a suspension.

I get what your saying happy but ET is like our 4th option for Hooker.
The blame should be on the club not securing a number of back up hookers.
Let’s hope they don’t make the same mistake for next year.
Even Lichaa would be a better option than ET, makes just as many tackles too.

We got even bigger problems now .....if Liddle is a ACL he won't be back until back end of SOO ..we have no back ups

With 2 spots available, we need Benji’s roster spot to fill bigger holes in the roster

Dunno ...it would depend how much Benji wanted to run around again

If he agreed to 150 k ..nuts not to keep him

We can’t carry Benji and Grub, and now we need Simpkin to be ready next year or buy a hooker. We need a winger, centre, middle forward or edge forward a prop and a hooker with 2 spots left.

I think league minimum is 105 k this season (could be wrong ) if we can't work /swing 45 k to sign a veteran who still offers something ...

@voice_of_reason
Yeah I agree re Reynolds mystery.
Just like I thought when NSW left Latrell out; something else is going on ....

Reynolds was coming off the bench for the dogs and subsequently let go and then couldn't crack the tigers starting squad. Teams have been trying to get rid of his contract the last 3 years and this dude gonna be the saviour?

He has played so little footy in three years with ongoing injury problems; you are definitely not going to get anything like the Reynolds that fans relate to. Not personal, but I support what ever Maguire is doing to move Josh on and the sooner the better for all.

@voice_of_reason I think Brooks is going to get suspended and to be honest I think he deserves to be suspended for his brain snap. It was an absolute disgraceful act & if it had been done by another club to one of our players we would be outraged. I was shocked, it isn’t something you expect from him but it doesn’t excuse it. One of our players not getting suspended by the judiciary would probably be a sign of the apocalypse.

@weststigerman Well then what are his excuses when ET isn't at dummy half? He had an ordinary game that mirrors all of his other games. When will people wake up and realize he offers sweet FA and the sooner we can offload him the better.

@shane2801 before ET got to dummy half he was sitting 3rd on Try assists, and quite low on errors when comparing halfbacks.

So I'd say he was doing well. Oh and he was also halfback of the year last year.

@Zach Where do you guys come from? (maybe under a rock), you have no idea. Dally M player of the year, and one of the leading halfbacks this year, and youth on his side.
The knee was brought on by the Manly player he pulled Brooks ankle which brought his knee leg down, they are all connected, ref got it wrong.

Do you guys follow Manly?

@weststigerman How he got halfback of the year beggars belief. I'm sick of waiting for him to stand up. It's been 5 years. I won't hold my breath.

@Tigers_Tale

heard it all before....goodness me

Dally M halfback like i give a rats about that accolade. who cares!!
seriously, give him a ribbon after every game why not!

he's never got us to finals footy, thats what i care about. seeing this club improve and become an actual good football club that is consistently playing with purpose, intensity, leadership, skill....AND finals footy.
im not putting that all on Brooks, but for God sake, for someone in such a pivotal position, he is not the answer. facts are facts. hes been our "main man" for 5 years and not delivered consistently. any other club he would have been long gone by now. Fact.

pulled his leg down on his throat did he? you are kidding me? come'on mate thats pushing it....

Simple then, compare him to the halfback on the other team.

@MAGPIES1963 Gday mate. Went into the season with Brooksy being my favourite player. He’s declined so hard it isn’t funnt.

I still hold on to hope that he will come of age and realise the potential that he has... last night was a "what the heck are you doing Brooks?" kinda game

and I still think that Benji does not help with Brooks' growth as a leader... you can't take control of a team when someone over calls you, this is where the coach comes in... he should tell the senior players that when Brooks demands it you give it to him plus again Benji should retire and let Talau run the show with Brooks... it is time.

Good post. We are sick of waiting for a level of football and game management that just isn't coming.

His fans no surprise are the ones who are happy to finish 9th every year and call it a good solid effort.

I give Brooks points for his loyalty staying when the 3 amigos left. Some will say that nobody else wanted him but tbh I think he loves the club and never wanted to leave.

Ok I agree that he has never taken a game by the scruff of the neck and won it for us but very few halfbacks do.

Like most on here I just wish we were able to put a decent forward pack in front of him and maybe a James Maloney type beside him. He wouldn’t cop half the rubbish he does now.

One thing in his favour, he has gone from the worst defensive half in the comp to being one of the best - now for improving his game management.

It's a team sport. I don't think Brooks is a game manager and I don't think he can provide what we need to be successful with this squad. But he is a good footy player and in a better team with go forward and fast backs he would shine.
Targeting him as the reason for us finishing 9th is as totally unrealistic, as expecting him to be able to lead us to success when you look at all the other limitations in the squad. Individually he is not the problem he is just part of it.

Can you point out the one's that are happy finishing 9th...without a broad brush..

@The_Patriot I don't understand this game management concept. It's too undefined and that is a problem when trying to state a decent argument. I can understand that Brooks doesn't stand up when we need him most ala against Canterbury and Manly. He isn't on his own there though.

I think he is one of our best players and we can build around him but he does need to deliver when the going gets rough.

@4jtigers I don't buy the line it's other players fault or the coaches he isn't performing. He gets plenty of ball.
