Bryce Cartwright

Why would the Panthers have a siege mentality cause Cartwright's a flog..

They were terrible against the Dragons and Cartwright was a main contributor…

I'm referring to the talk about how bad they played against the Dragons. They'll be under fire all week for that effort, this crap with Cartwright notwithstanding.

They'll be out to prove that it was an aberration next week.

Seriously who are these blokes and how were they raised? Would anyone on this forum ever contemplate treating the mother of their unborn child this way? It's hard to keep defending the culture of rugby league against those who criticise when you have turds like this running around.

That attitude has become a lot more prevalent since advent of the Pill and sexual liberation. If conception was not discussed then why not? There seems there was not any understanding about having a child together so may have come as an unwelcome shock to him. I can understand the girl not wanting an abortion or regretting later after having such procedure. That is life nothing is perfect. But having a child without a father is also damning.

At school they have been taught all sorts of things for at least 50 years - the last twenty years really concentrating on women protecting their bodies etc.. (from what I gathered listening to my niece going through high school).

At least they were in good ole Oz where safe abortions are virtually free and universally available, the other option being govt welfare is also available.

Panthers press conference atm. There's talk he could be stood down this weekend.

That would be a shame, I'd rather he play - he's great for a defensive lapse or two each game

What Tim Simona is alledged to have done in many ways pales into insignificance to what this player, heavily backed by his club, did to this woman.

This is real bad Newtown,

But lets not dismiss the fact that one of our own has been alleged to letting in tries and lose a game for his own financial gain…

Back on topic

People doing what ever they wan and at times women hitting on players.

My good mate is a current NRL captain, He's Ugly (Sorry bro) and the blokes that size him up and the number of girls that flirt etc is alarming all because hes a footy player.

Spart, its been happening for years, when I was playing I forget how many times girls would knock on my door at all hours of the night on their way home from nightclubbing..flirting was a sport for them, unfortunately these days the player value in dollars is far greater..in my day they were known as good sports …these days they are refered to as gold diggers.....not saying BC is in the right and not saying the women are wrong..just giving an example of days gone by.....

I just don't get the moral compasses of people on here - its morally wrong to have a bet on someone scoring a try against you but its morally ok to string two women along, get one pregnant then bully her and pay her off into having an abortion then have a fixer clean up the mess all under the knowledge of the club. Neither are illegal, both are wrong - one guy will probably get a life suspension the other gets a few laughs from his mates. Is this morally better than what Todd Carney did - he hurt nobody with his stupidity. I'm over these brain dead jerks no matter what club they come from. Piss the lot of them off.

A season ending groin injury in a biggest recorded loss to the WT's (including Balmain or Wests ) would be fair in my opinion

I don't ask for much I know

I agree with the sentiment of your post Happy, but how do we know that the circunstances are what you have said in this instance.
They are certainly not the first to have an abortion, whether it was him or the woman who came up with that , is anyone's guess, whether he forced anything , we don't know.
We don't know for sure whether she wanted money or he suggested it.
No-ones( yet) has admitted approaching her.
We know bugger all about it only what one of them has reported
He may be as bad as some make out, or may be not. We don't know who's telling the truth.
The Woman also could be telling the truth, or may be lying about some of the facts, who knows.
Only one sides been heard,
We may never know anyway.

You've got to have a licence for everything in this country except breed.

Tell you what, putting aside and thoughts on the morality of the situation or personal views on Phil Gould, but if you were a player with this sort of indiscretion in the papers you couldn't ask for much more from your club than how the Panthers are handling this.

Straight up nothing from the club, and a really strong line from Gould personally - backing the player but promising appropriate welfare support for both parties. Gould must know he's going to get slammed by the Tele (they hate him anyway, quite apart from anything else) yet he's out on the front foot with a solid but constructive line.

As I say, I'm not making any comment at all on whether it's morally right or not. Just saying it's an absolute lesson in PR crisis management.

Could just be a gold digger who told BC she was on the pill, knew that if she had a kid she was set for life financially? Demanded hush money after she found out he wanted nothing to do with her? Who knows the full story, it takes 2 to tango.
This sort of story is right up the Telegraph's alley. Gutter journalism at it's finest.

Not going to comment on the morality of this situation nor who's right or wrong. But this is disgraceful. Paying someone through an intermediary to having an abortion to absolve yourself of responsibility?
So much for all the NRL's PR on treatment of women.

Arguably Keanu Reeves greatest line in a movie CB (Parenthood)

"You need a licence to own a dog , own a gun , yet they let any butthead become a Dad "
