I can't believe some people are saying Civoneceva shouldn't have been sent off…

I'm surprised his victim isn't laying in the hospital bed next to Lawry

Well, which was worse,, Glenn Stewart yesterday or Petro's tonight?

I can kind of see people's point. But when I saw it I did instantly think send off.

There have been tackles in the past that have been as bad or worse and they haven't been sent off but that's because a bad decision has been made by the refs.

I'm glad this decision was made the Referee… Any clean strike of the forearm into the head should be a send-off offence. The Referee's who choose not to make these decisions are soft and are taking the easy way out by placing such things on Report.

Now, I'm all for playing the game hard and tough. In fact, I'm the first to jump and down on the spot when stupid penalties are given for some of the rough stuff. I've known Petro and his family for many years, and I truely feel for him as he has been an ambassador of the game for the past 11 years, and doesnt play the game in a reckless manner. He will be hurting right now... With that being said, he will be the first to acknowledge he should of been sent off for such contact.

Further more, I think such contact should also recieve a 4 week suspension, and I dont believe in any of the rubbish about Origin Games or Final Games should count as any different. The tackle was careless and reckless and the NRL must ensure he is punished accordingly based on the tackle...

Sorry Brother!!!

Agreed Watto, that sort of tackle can very seriously hurt a bloke and can bust a lot of bones. It was a hard swinging forearm to the face. Should cop a month.

Glen Stewart on the other hand, his shot was a late, high and quite possibly intentional elbow to the head.

I don't really like Ben Roberts but I don't think he could have had a shot at field goal because the defense rushed up and were too close to him.

He could've taken the tackle, it was only the 3rd.

there is gonna be hard hits in rugby league it is not oz tag. it was accidental he should off been put on report instead. do u actually belive that he is a dirty player who would go out and do that on purpose?

You look at all the really bad send offs over the past 10 years (not the soft ones), you notice they all have one thing in common, intent. I don't believe there was any intent in Pet's tackle.

Nor did Merritts tackle on Lawrence have any intent of malice. But it was a send off worthy offence

no im not saying he is a dirty player but he deserved to be sent off. there is a difference between big hits and head high tackles.
