Campbelltown Sports Centre of Excellence finally a reality

Concord would be the ideal place to rebuild if possible. Seems like pie in the sky stuff relying on Harry but you never know. All the money in the JV is coming from Ashfield so to have the team there i think makes sense.

I think is a good spot. Especially if we're playing at Homebush fulltime.
Seeing as Go has gone public about it tells me that they've talked to HT about it and he hasn't dismissed it out right. Probably explains wests helping balmain out aswell.

Interesting article there especially the comments in regards to HT.

As for the promise of govt money for the Campbelltown COE all I can say is, yeah sure. A relatively small promise like this is easily washed away once govt is in and they will use excuses of tight budgets etc etc money needed on more important things. Time will tell I suppose.

We should always be comparing ourselves to the dragons for obvious reasons but I dont see enough people mentioning them in any conversation on where we are at or where we are going. My understanding is that the dragons have struggled to attract big name players due to their fulltime training in the gong. I know there is no COE in the gong but distance has obviously played a factor.

If it does get built I like the connection it will have with the university and the opportunities with sports science.

Yeah they'll get back in, then claim all their election costings are tied to obscene cuts to other services, so if the senate won't let them scrap Medicare, cut the aged pension and sell military bases to China, then it's Labor and the Greens fault Campbelltown didn't get a sports centre.

Take it with one of these very large grains of salt.

So are we assuming the COE isn't going ahead now?

With Macarthur going back to Labor after the Libs were annihilated at the election you'd surely think that even if Turnbull somehow manages to patch up some weak government that they won't be throwing cash at a region which so resoundingly rebelled against them?

It was forecast to be 50/50, but with around 53% of the Primary vote, and more with preferences swinging Labor out to 59% its a foregone conclusion.

Or are Labor willing to chip in $ too? With such a strong result they must have campaigned well in the local communities.

Hey if I was Turnbull and the people of Macathur just kicked my butt, there's no way that I would kick in one cent into any project in that area.

With all these centres of Excellence being proposed , I'm hoping one of them has a secret Scientific Sports Lab. Specialising in IVF and gene cloning. Nothing illegal ,just cutting edge stuff.
I was thinking about the Morris Twins and how freakish their situation is. I know IVF has a high rate of producing twins. We should be looking at reproducing Teddy ( multiple times)
If the Dogs can have two Morrises then imagine us coming up against them withthree Teddys
I'd like to get Adam MacDougall onboard as a consult. I like his out of the box thinking.

Isn't it State Govt funding?

From the OP, "the Federal Government has pledged a massive $7.23 million to make the long-discussed Centre of Excellence a reality." a few regional bodies and the council, uni were chipping in too.

That is all over if it was Federal money …. the people of Macarthur voted for someone that lives 60kms out of there electorate, and the Libs candidate was a local by all accounts a good one go figure ...

Ah, was getting confused with Ashfield. Ok, well I think that's got more chance now..

Wests Tigers will lobby local, state and federal governments to assist with funding and are confident they will be a beneficiary of the state government’s pledge to match dollar for dollar any club looking to build a centre of excellence.

They said that 20%of voters made up their minds on who to vote for as they walked into the polling booths,
That's what happens with compulsory voting or compulsory attendiing at a polling booth.
