This is more of a question is he eligible to play for the Blues , cause for me would be an automatic selection , he just needs to read the players better when defending , but that will come in time .
Has an unbelievable upper strength and speed….
Does anyone know if he can play S.O.O?

No, Fiji is in QLD.

In all seriousness, I would hope he represents Fiji. They are starting to build up some ridiculous local talent that are making it in the NRL. If they developed a good halfback, there's no telling how well they could perform at a international level.

Pretty sure he is ineligible under the new rules

LOL yeah Fiji is in Q.L.D…. it wouldn't surprise me if Fiji end up having an N.R.L side in 10 years or so , have alot of talented players.

I was thinking the same , just wanted to know if anyone had a concrete answer, as i was thinking if he could play while watching us vs Roosters , he bloody excites me when he takes the ball up or is in space .
Will end up being one of the best wingers in the game once he addresses he's defence.

LOL you guys claim everyone to be Q.L.D's

Under the rules, not any more…

I will be very happy for him to play for Fiji. I really hope the International Rugby League steps in and stops New Zealand from stealing Pacific Islanders in the near future to allow the game to grow. Further to that, if SBW has any creditability, he will also play for Tonga this year at the World Cup!

FTR - Fiji are no chance of an NRL Team... They are a very poor nation.

I think I read somewhere that James Tedesco has nominated to play for Italy at the World Cup also!

Yeah your right Watto Fiji is very poor , but have some talented players popping up every now and then.
SBW doesn't know what he is , even inregards with his chosen sport.

Yeah,Rugby Union & League have been looking at a combined Pacific Islanders Team for World Cups and the like but so far its come to nothing.I can't see PNG in the NRL either unless one of the Mining Co.'s decide to do some PR and pour some Millions in.

You'd think the mining companies would give a little back, considering they are making so much money off the back of a poor country.

Fiji is a woefully poor country, with a round figure population of 900,000 across the hundreds of islands that make up the nation. I would still hope there were a few folks with deep pockets over there who would support a national team. I'd even be happy for the NRL to stump up a bigger grant for a Fijian side as it will benefit the game internationally.

I have been to Fiji a couple of years ago, stayed just a little way from Lote's home village, they are very poor but very friendly and welcoming, they deserve to have a better life than what they have.
They work hard for not much money, that is why most of the Fijian kids coming through make it to NRL level, they have a great work ethic and are very polite, there are enough pure athletic players to make it,but like what has been said earlier,no where near enough money, hell they would be lucky to buy the jumpers.

Must have been on the Coral Coast. We also went through Lote's village - his family still live there and apparently have the only satellite in the village… I was also lucky enough to get along to watch some RL at the ground next to the Navite Resort. They all knew about Koroibete (this was in 2011). The game itself was fantastic - 80 minutes of athletic blokes tearing into each other. I was convinced then that Fijians are probably more physically suited to league than union. All the players had jumpers (NRL hand me downs) but the socks and shorts were a bit dodgy. It really wouldn't be hard for an NRL club to buddy up with a few clubs and send them some gear. As you say these guys play on a shoestring but the commitment and passion was there in spades. Put some decent money in and there will be a stack on Koroibete's playing. When I was there a number of guys asked me how they could get over to Australia and play NRL - the phrase low hanging fruit came to mind...

I'm not sure the new selection rules apply retroactively for those who have already debuted. And if thats the case, Koro is still eligible for NSW.

It doesnt apply to those who have already debuted at SOO Level, but all other Club Players will have the new rules applied.

He can't play for NSW under the new rules. If he becomes an Australian citzen he will be able to play for Australia even if he has played for Fiji in the World Cup. May be a qualifying period to wait

I imagine he will try to play for Australia as the match payments will be lucrative for him.

Wow.

So theoretically you could have a 30 year old player who might have been on the cusp of selection for say NSW, yet the new rules could technically change his eligibility to QLD?

When the new rules came out, my understanding was it wouldn't change players who already nominated for a particular state when they signed their contract? Could be wrong though.
