Can Reynolds make a difference?

Many death riding Grub ….the hype that many have for someone to fail sad really!

Yeah thats an odd one, cant work out what he has even done. Yes he ahs been injured but he has brought a lot to the club and im sure has impacted the culture already.

Being concerned about what he can offer is not death riding him- its being realistic. He is one of our highest paid players, we have him for four years, hasnt played a game yet and in recent times has suffered from reoccurring injuries.that have effected his performance.
Hope he defies that and finds some great form but like a few others, not confident at this point.

The Fan favourite says hello..

For me Reynolds should come back through ISP but I guess Ivan knows best…

His first game hardly inspired confidence. He looked like me trying to run the Wanda Sandhills.

Hopefully being a shoulder problem, he has been able to get some fitness under his belt

I’m not expecting Grub to come out and solve our issues from his first game but I do believe after a few weeks, injury free hopefully, we will see his impact on the team.

If you go by reports and what Brooks and Grub were saying through the pre season he will play a more traditional role as 5/8 and let Brooks run the team, I don’t think Benji has been doing that of late and has fallen back into old habits, overplaying his hand and taking ball away from Brooks.

Brooks fitness should now be at peak and if Grub falls into a 5/8 role, roaming and playing off Brooks then hopefully we should see a less disjointed attack.

Time will tell.

I am looking forward to Reynolds in future but I don't think it's fair to have high expectations from him in a return. I'll be happy enough if he 'does the job' for whatever minutes he plays. I feel like he will need a while…..Of course on the other hand Benji came on round 1 without match fitness/trial games and did great. Surely Reynolds will be playing 9 till he gets fit with Liddle.

Was going to say the same , won't be full match fitness , but he will be better off

I guess it depends how IC picks the side , pointless imo starting with Benji he will just overplay his hand

If we start with Lolohea , much better fit for the side overall

No. I do not have faith in any of our halves at the moment. Until they learn to play direct and not crab across the field we are not going to trouble too many teams attacking wise.

If he is played at 6 I think he will make a BIG difference.

I'm worried about him playing 30 at hooker.

We need his energy out wide…in one on ones in attack.

I would think his cardio fitness should be better than when he came back from his hamstring problems. At least whilst he has had this shoulder injury, he still would have been able to run etc and maintain or gain some cardio fitness.
Yes, obviously he will be down on match fitness - goes without saying - but I can't see him being worse than the no. 6 we have playing at the moment.
I think Reynolds should start, last as long as he can, and then bring on Marshall who hopefully will control his game - wishful thinking probably.

what hope will happen is that Reynolds on the bench and when hes to come on he comes on out wide and benji plays in the middle I think that will be the better choice

Last time I saw Reynolds with any serious time on the field was the trial, he was very loose…playing his own game.
I have my doubts about what he can provide for us...hope to be proven wrong...win the ruck and we can judge

And his cardio is way off.
Wouldn't make it through a half for mine.

Agree - hasnt played much footy for a long time.

Yep,

Ballin 2.0
Knew he had bad hammys and is pushing 30… Signed him anyway.

Im desperate to be wrong about this guy.

Off the field he seems to be awesome in terms of attitude and work ethic….

I think that's one of my points - yeah Reynolds was blowing in his first game, but he was defending like a lunatic at hooker. Different proposal having him play and defend at #6.

I suppose the point I was making originally is Reynolds was bought to be the starting #6, he was the Dogs long-term #6 and also played Origin there.

Unlike Benji who was almost on the scrap-heap when we bought him, only a glimmer of some good value from his Broncos finals campaign, and yet as a backup halves option he's proven quite good, even with the recent losses in consideration. Compare to the backup halves options at other clubs and how inconsistent some of those have been - Frawley, Douehi, Jack Bird, Brock Lamb, Moylan, Sam Williams etc.

Hopefully he can make a difference after about 3 or 4 games, I'll admit I'm skeptical as to how much and I'd rather he had a few games in Reggie's first but we'll see. I can't see him doing much if he plays 9, gotta be better than ET there though.

No doubting the guy is a good personality and all that.
Does really well on fox too.

I too hope he doesn't turn out to be a dud buy but we have to wait and see.
