Can't Some Supporters See The Improvement?

I am amazed by the negative comments by some supporters after last night's game. I posted the following on another thread and I hope there are many out there, who agree with my comments.

_I am sure I was as disappointed as any Wests Tigers fan after the game last night, BUT….....\
\
In the last two weeks, OUR team has played the two grand finalists from last year. We have played with the "left-overs" from last year plus some up-and-coming young (some VERY young!) players. There were comments on other threads that it was the youngest NRL team we have ever put on the field.\
\
We did very well against the Rabbits until the last twenty minutes or so, BUT the players at no stage GAVE UP.\
\
Last night, with more missing players, we had to play a 20 year old back rower and a 21 year old winger in their first NRL game against the other grand finalist from last year. The team almost snatched a win in a game, which the punters gave them NO HOPE OF WINNING and some of you are whinging about the performance!!!!!!\
\
Well, I am proud of the performance of MY team last night. I can see the big improvement from last year and I think we will be the big improvers this year. I can see the positive changes the new coach and support staff and new players have produced this year, already.\

I hope the majority of the TRUE TIGER SUPPORTERS agree with me. The remaining "supporters" ........_

Wests Tigers team as a whole have shown remarkable improvement and resilience each week.the errors made in last nights game were caused by pressure and inexperience…
Kieth and Martys mistakes,I think were caused by pressure to make ground and offload to get some points...the young fellas mistakes came because of keenness and inexperience, all will improve in the coming weeks I'm sure...

I'm not going to play the blame game on whose fault it was that we lost last night...I was very happy for the team and almost got the win against giant forwards and very experienced backs..

One point I will make,it was noticeable Brooks,Tedesco started to play what was in front of them and showed confidence within themselves to have a go....

Overall great effort with the great prop on the sideline and raw talent coming into the game...

*19year old and 20year old. Isn't it?

But you're right. Hard loss to swallow, but against last years GFs two weeks in a row, we have really outdone ourselves with our young squad. The big turnaround till next game should be good for the boys to recover from two very physical matches, and front up against parra!

We were similar last year where the forwards had go forward and a desire to defend, but ended up tired of the effort with no attacking reward. Then Anasta was gone and it was months too late.

I hope the attacking improves from the backline week in week out or we may end up with the same.

This I think was my favorite part, even if it only lasted about a quarter of the game. Now it's Moses' turn, once these 3 click our attack should be set (although I liked the attacking grubber he put in, nice idea but Bulldogs fullback read it quite well though).

I couldn't tell much from where I was sitting, but are Brooks and Moses playing both sides of the field or stillstuck on one side each?

This is the issue isn't it. Our forwards without Woods against a massive pack did a really good job. We need out backline to fire especially the halves. I thought Brooks and Moses were actually really good but I think they can still improve.

I have never been more devastated and proud at the same time.

Gee they are a good bunch of kids.

They so deserved that but wow they are goers.

The look on Taupaus face in the end mirrored my own…...I like seeing that. Means that it means a lot to them too.

We gave up an 18 point lead and lost in golden point, if that doesn't make you emotional and vent negativity then idk what will. Even though there might be positives, it's cold comfort when the feelings of the loss are still raw

Are you Luke Brook's daddy?

Yep, last few weeks have been great, effort wise.

The only thing that worries me is that we have to start stringing a few wins together very soon. The young blokes come from a winning culture in the U20's only to find that the NRL squad is more of a losing culture at this time.

JT has impressed me so far and his methods appear to be working. Our defence has improved but still needs stiffening, not being able to defend 18 points with less than 20 mins remaining is a concern.

So, let's see if the improvement continues with a win over the giant killers next week.

Very well said Mighty Maggy , they are really trying out there but with the lack of experience in key moments of the game is showing . This is all a learning curb for them and only good things can come out of it .
We are all at the dumps at the moment but chin up all and lets move on.

The loss hurt , but with more experience and some more mental toughness .. Hell we could've been 4/4 !
At this stage I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far .
At least we're winning the games were supposed to win !

That's the thing , we were in those games to our eye balls ( Rabbits , Bulldogs) .If we had that experience we maybe could of gotten the 2 points .

I think that with a longer turnaround after playing the premiers on a humid day, we would have won against the other grand finalists last night even with the depleted team that we fielded.

As Taylor said in the presser, the players shouldn't bash themselves up too much about the result; I was disappointed with the final score but still proud to call myself a Wests Tiger. Before the season started most on here said they just wanted to see us be competitive this year. Well, so far we have exceeded that particular benchmark and will only get better.

I'm not usually the type to get too upset over a loss but have to say I was just gutted after last night.

I've said many times I just want to find myself at the end of the season full of optimism after seeing the core of the team develop, and I know this is all part of the learning curve, but at the same time I feel like people are deferring to what can easily be used as mitigating factors as an excuse for losing a game they simply should never have lost from where they were.

I know this may sound harsh - and I am not ignoring the positives we've seen for the big picture - but surely the effect of winning last night would've been way more beneficial for the young guys compared to letting a very winnable game get away?

Maybe the short turnaround was the reason the side seemed to fall in a heap? Maybe injuries played havoc with the interchange; I don't know so I could just be being overly hard on the side but I'm just so disappointed because I think had they held on for a win the guys would be riding a real high right now, thinking "we can really do this!".

Ah, as for the topic title, I can definitely see things are well on track and I'm very happy all things considered. I just think a huge opportunity slipped through their fingers last night.
