How'd Talau go? Worth throwing in deep end that is 1st grade?

**> Our attack did look pretty poor for most of the game though. When we had the ball down their end we would go from side to side, no decoys or people running angles. Again with all the chopping and changing in the side it's not surprising there's no fluidity out there.**@balmain-boy said in [Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 17](/post/1034483) said:@fred
Thought we were totally outplayed.
Wenty were bigger and faster than us. Most of their tries were incredibly soft. Player running the ball, 3 tacklers and still having an arm free to casually put the ball down kind of stuff.
Talau was our best. Scored one and set up another, was always hard to get to ground and towards the end was flicking the ball a lot and creating half chances.
Jack Miller did do some amazing things. To show the pace and heart to chase down Bevan French on a length of the field run, tackle him into touch, in the 70th minute when your team's down by a few tries is a great effort for a back rower. He also came up with a good strip to get us the ball back with 20 to go, but he then tried a ridiculous offload 5m out in front of the posts on the second tackle and lost the ball. Still a lot of bad errors and brainsnaps in his game, and he's not as young as our dev boys but he has potential and could be a late bloomer.
Bradley didn't get much opportunity. Having Heleta and Burey inside him didn't help. The ball never came his way so was only involved making metres out of our own end.
Madden's kicking game was generally good, made Wenty work it off the line by finding the grass and kicking it to the corners (something we never, ever do in NRL for some reason). He also set up Burey with a great little chip over the top to score under the posts in the last minute. There were still many kicks straight to the fullback but when you're kicking under pressure 35m out from your own line that's going to happen.

Smith was again solid under the high ball, taking in everything that comes his way, but still needs to try and get involved in attack more. The team's attack was poor, but if he was sniffing around the ruck a bit more maybe he could have got an offload etc.
