Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 18

@balmain-boy Hopefully we can sort out our cap issues so we can afford to send our JF team away games a bit earlier. I thought they might have travelled the day before in the past?

Is it common for them to get on a bus for 3 hours from 10am, get off, immediately warm up, play and then come straight back? Would the Raiders have done the same when they played us a few weeks back?

I realise it's only Jersey Flegg but it seems a bit unprofessional to me. Was fine to do it at schoolboy level but shouldn't they have a bit more time?

Regardless it's no excuse but not an ideal prep. An away win like this would make it a special effort.

Happy to be shot down in flames if it's the norm for most clubs.

@Tiggerman i wouldnt think many clubs go to away games until the day at JF level. It isnt under 20s where its before the nrl game and even then why waste the money. Better experience putting them under pressure and the risk ud get of a heap if 19 yr old footy players away together the night before isnt worth it id say

So Cini played flegg earlier today for some reason. Why name him in CC then take him to Canberra with the flegg squad. Bizarre. He should have been playing cc weeks ago. Hope he doesn't get too disemheartened

@balmain-boy yeah strange why all the othe other development kids have gone up except him, they also miss Dillon this side, he creates a hell of a lot of chances with pure speed and footwork, hopefully in the next couple of weeks Balmain boy these two will get a run in cc, cause we won’t be playing finals footy in any grade

Where is Dillon?

@CarltonDry I know he went down in the first 5 mins against south Sydney a few weeks back and was on the sideline with crutches and moon boot, not sure when he will be back?

Canterbury Cup or not, not many will fare very well if they put in a tackling display like that again. The amount of tries down our left edge and middle was very poor indeed. I haven’t seen that many poor attempts at tackling like that all season. No commitment to the tackle and too many soft tries.

Again we do not seem to have any ball playing forwards or any ability to throw the ball around.

The penalties! Too many and yet we persist in holding down in the ruck.

Very disappointing but that seems to be theme for most Jersey Flegg sides this year.

@thaiger, look at cc last week, Talau and madden leaked 3 tries I saw with poor defence and bad reads, it time to move up the two best attacking prospects in Jersey Flegg, Cini and IMO, after all what harm is going to do, we are slow and ineffective in attack in cc and nrl

@momo_amp_medo We have little to gain by throwing our good young players into a grade they are not ready for. Give them an off season with Maguire so they are aware of what is expected.

@pawsandclaws1 understand your concerns, and I’m not saying give them a full season in cc, although I do believe Cini and Dillon are better now than a couple of guys that get picked in cc every week. Season is over in all three grades I was hoping Hodgson or Warwick would play these kids for a couple of games in cc towards the end of the year, because if either look ok to at cc level, you can get rid of a couple guys like smith and momorovski and begin to move forward

@fred I think communication was poor but also the commitment to the tackles was the most disappointing aspect.

Agree Cini should be given a chance in CC but whoever goes up regardless, you have to go in with intensity which was lacking right across the team yesterday.

Probably just one of those days. We were not the same side as we were against Souths.

@Thaiger interested to hear your thoughts on Henry lealuga. I just don’t see this guy warranting a dev contract, I don’t get his half hearted hit ups when he’s tired , etc... also when he’s fatigued in defence he gives away rubbish penalties? I’m a wrap for Dave Warwick and bringing in Talau, Bradley, Cini , Dillon, and a few others, just think lealuga was a poor decision which happens.
