Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 7

Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup Coach Brett Hodgson has named his side to take on the Newtown Jets in this Sunday as part of the "Return to Lidcombe" Round at Lidcombe Oval.

Looking to bounce back from a last start defeat to Wentworthville, Western Suburbs will kick off a triple-header of action on the day for Wests Tigers with the Canterbury Cup game (1:10pm AEST) followed by the Jersey Flegg (3:10pm) and Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership (4:55pm) teams taking on the Cronulla Sharks.


With a short turnaround following the Monday game,Hodgson has named the same team originally listed last week including several 2019 Development Players.

But he hasn’t been named in the 21 in NRL. Doesn’t that mean he can’t play? And I’m gathering he can’t play reserves either because not named anywhere?

That’s what I’m thinking too

Can't play NRL since not named in 21. Think only way he can play is if we get permission from the NRL to replace Farah which they wouldn't allow since we have players that can cover the position with the 21. Why I say he's most likely injured.

I understand that since Liddle has not been named in the NRL 21 he can’t play.
Do the same rules apply for reserves? ie: he’s not named therefore cannot play

The team list selected on Tuesday only matters for NRL. The other grades it's just a guide and changes can be made at any time. The NRL players not in the 17 will be added to this squad, and they're not named. Neither was Liddle named last Tuesday but played on the weekend.
I imagine the players themselves know which grade they'll be playing and hope those who drop out of nsw cup get the opportunity to play ron massey at least.
