Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 7

Liddle stood out was brilliant.

The other young blokes impressed too - Smith, Bradley, Mcintyre all good

Gamble looks in control at this level but not sure he is an NRL half.

Robson as always was impressive

Liddle asked what Madge has told him to work on for a recall to NRL - keep my attack going and work on defence

Dylan Smith is quality

Yeah I like him and Kane Bradley. Both are next in line for first grade.

Bradley looks a good prospect. Only started playing wing this season apparently

I wouldnt mind seeing him have another go. He really did debut on the worst of all days.

Given his continual importance and form in State Cup he deserves one more go. Maybe a two or three week stint.

can someone be kind and summarize the match for me? aka... who was good/bad

Dylan Edwards played well, he looks very classy.
Kane Bradley is big and strong and seems to score when given the chance.
Liddle was fantastic, very dangerous.
Robson and Appouri played really smart and got some great metres while Gamble controlled things.
Nofo waited for the game to come to him. He's way behind Thommo, Mahe and then still behind Edwards and Bradley if they go down.

On my way home from return to Lidcombe day.

Smith & Liddle were very good. Bradley has potential but needs to get more meat on his bones.

Gamble is a stand out at that level.

Miller and mcguigan were also decent.

The entire team looked to be walking after 20 minutes of the first half, and most of the forwards I would not bother feeding

@Harvey

do u think gamble deserves another shot at first grade?

I was at the game ....l and there was not a player that I saw that had a game that would survive NRL standard.
If you put Gamble in against the Roosters? Now that would really be a coach killer “Gamble” ...... at this stage of his development.

With one exception ...... Liddle played well. He needs to bulk up a little ..... but yes I missed his efforts today!

Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup Coach Brett Hodgson has named his side to take on the North Sydney Bears for their Round 8 clash this Sunday, May 5 at North Sydney Oval.

Kickoff for the match is at 1:10pm AEST with live coverage via Channel 9.

After a gritty 32-22 win over Newtown last week put the Magpies back in the winners circle, Hodgson has named a similar side for this week's game — albeit without several NRL players who have been included in the extended NRL squad.

With the Canterbury Cup game on Sunday played after the NRL game against the Roosters on Saturday night, Hodgson's side may once again see some late inclusions as Western Suburbs look to move inside the top four on the ladder.

Wests' side for Sunday's game still includes a number of NRL squad members as is, however, with Dylan Smith, Tyson Gamble, Sam McIntyre and Robbie Rochow all named — along with 2019 Development Players Tommy Talau, Alex Seyfarth and Kane Bradley, who bagged a double in last week's win over the Jets.
