Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup Coach Brett Hodgson has named his side to take on the North Sydney Bears for their Round 8 clash this Sunday, May 5 at North Sydney Oval.

Kickoff for the match is at 1:10pm AEST with live coverage via Channel 9.

After a gritty 32-22 win over Newtown last week put the Magpies back in the winners circle, Hodgson has named a similar side for this week's game — albeit without several NRL players who have been included in the extended NRL squad.

With the Canterbury Cup game on Sunday played after the NRL game against the Roosters on Saturday night, Hodgson's side may once again see some late inclusions as Western Suburbs look to move inside the top four on the ladder.

Wests' side for Sunday's game still includes a number of NRL squad members as is, however, with Dylan Smith, Tyson Gamble, Sam McIntyre and Robbie Rochow all named — along with 2019 Development Players Tommy Talau, Alex Seyfarth and Kane Bradley, who bagged a double in last week's win over the Jets.

Well the boys have possible first grade spots available to play for today. Let's see whos hungry.

Not one player even stands out in this grade the club is in real trouble self inflicted...,mediocrity and no professionalism is infested right through the club.

Clear indication of a severe lack of cattle.

Packer needs glue, Gamble couldn't get much happening with the kicking game. Just not a lot going on attacking wise.

Oliver Clark and Seyfarth put packer to shame with their performances. What a slouch.

Oliver Clark, McIntyree and Seyfarth played well in the forwards. Liked some things from Bradley, Talau, Smith and Momirovski did ....... however the service from our half’s was poor.
Gambles defence has improved but not much else. He should be dominating at this grade.
Packer .... what is he doing .... z grade stuff.

Just a reminder swearing disguised or otherwise is not permitted on this forum...

I think Oliver Clark might be pushing for a first grade spot If he continues his form for the next couple of weeks. Solid defender, has some aggression about him and a good motor. Reminds me of that Tom Flegler guy from the Broncos.
