So for argument's sake Benji isn't there, which is a future we need to look towards sooner rather than the day after he leaves...who would it be? I'm struggling to find any true leaders out there that aren't pushing the wrong side of 1 year contracts

Literally no one has stood up and taken that role on the field which is why it has to be Benji!

So he gets injured/form drops? who's next?

There isn't anyone, you would have to go back to Mbye but I would have Benji mentoring someone, probably Brooks for the role moving forward.

I tend to agree with Brooks. He plays every minute of every game and for mine, tries his guts out

I'd have Benji do it, but take him aside at the start of the season and tell him to in all team conversations to be asking for Brooks' input infront of the other players. To build his confidence in the role, also point younger players with questions in Brooks' direction. Leader can be built and Luke seems to lack a bit of confidence but great leaders can be found in these sorts of individuals.

Basically HAS to be Benji.

Brooks does not have the personality for it.

Mbye seems a nice bloke, but I can't recall a single moment of leadership all season he showed on the field. None.

Brooks as well for me , even if we have to we drag him kicking and screaming

But I'm not kidding about Matterson , if he stays it forces him to do the right thing

100 percent benji....problem is who will cpt when he’s gone? Brooks? Hmmmmm

Corey Thompson

I think Corey Thompson would be perfect for the job, he seems a pretty passionate hard worker for the team, perhaps Benji captain this year and Corey vice captain:smiley:

Benji has been the real captain all season and will be next season as well. Might as well make it official

It staggers me to think Benji is the front runner. But I'm in the same boat. - only because he has the respect of the referees and for his genuine love for the club. He's just a first grader ability wise these days for me. Nothing more, nothing less. Making up the numbers.

Brooks, he is ready and the major obstacle to him successfully carrying out the role is no longer there.

I don't think Brooks is ready, but he maybe in 12 months time if mentored correctly.

G'day @Curly_Tiger: Before Ponga became captain, we would have to see if he could control the ice cream cart and tell the difference between strawberry and a chocolate icecreams :icecream:

@avocadoontoast Might as well just get Mitchell Moses to captain our team while playing for another squad.
