@Matto we have a good enough coach and talent to linger around the bottom of the 8, I just wouldn't expect a premiership window to open for another 3 years at least.

I agree. We badly need stability and the kind of players that build a team.
I realised why many successful teams don't change their backrow too much. When you know that your winger will be standing in this spot and you can throw a no look pass and know they will be across the line then you win. When you can trust your center is in position and right you know you will win.
Our problem is starting with a back row worth keeping. I honestly think were kinda there. Would have loved DWZ to come into that combination though.
People bag Cleary, but it's weird to remember how little Cleary had to build off. Look at that photo and almost everyone is a nobody bar Brooks, Woods and Tedesco. No offence to Chris Lawrence, but look at how many fringe-graders are above and how few first graders.
Taylor focused on the Big 4. We would have kept Tedesco and Woods but had an even more mediocre team.
Cleary, he had a tough time rebuilding. His biggest fault was hiring too much average. His options were limited, but yes he hired a lot of good clubmen, average men and not people who you could build into a top 4 side.
Lets hope we make the 8 this year.
