Do you mind telling us what the emails about?
I'm guessing recruiting.
Apogies if you've already done so... I missed it
I posted my last one earlier, but there are only 5 spanning over 6 months or so.

At the moment, I’m raising mild concerns about Benji, not to harm him but to help him.

I think it’s obvious we need some roster changes, but no need to prosecute that case with too much vigour.

He’s promised to communicate, he says members are the be and end all, I want him to walk the walk!

Other people might think I’m too harsh. Fair enough. I have expectations.

I’ll be disappointed if I have to resort to these measures tbh and if he’s still not interested, I’ll just ‘fan-on’ next year.

Not the end of the world for either of us.

Still no response.

I don’t think responding to 1 in 5 of my emails is up to standard, even his p.a.

I suppose I’ll give it a couple of days and then issue a show cause to membership and our club media why I should renew my and the dogs memberships next year, because he held out he would respond -or even someone on his behalf.
I don’t mean this disrespectfully but Cronulla sacked their CEO for spending too much time responding to members and not enough time engaging with staff and the business. They’ve been a better club since… I think the non response to you reflects the rump steak approach. Even if he delegated the responsibility, it would need a full time salary to successfully respond to all member enquiries personally.

I would agree, except he made a point when he was selling memberships, we would get access.

And it seemed a good incentive for people, but when you don’t get a response, it kind of rubs the wrong way.

The amount us members shove into the joint would more than cover one full time salary probably at least 2 or 3.

I reckon he has to go the extra yard.

Just FYI, I became a member because HB finally took the last board out to the back of the shed and took aim. My subscription was a reward for a job well done.

Have to push Richo is my message, keep him to his word. I’m not after his head etc.

Let’s see what he does!

If, for example Benji wanted Scott Prince to replace Robbie Farah for next year, would Richo go along with it? It may seem odd that suddenly many 05 GF winners have developed aspirations to coach, but when you think about it many of those same players took up motivational speaking engagements.
Yes, it is strange how there are so many of the (05) players (helping out) ...... this is not good enough, we need experience at a club like ours that has been languishing in the back blocks for so long.

Firstly… I agree that you should be getting a response from the club in some fashion …even if it’s not actually from Richo himself

I would appreciate if you could repost your emails again …as I can’t locate it … you say you are trying to “help” Benji … do you have any expertise in coaching elite athletes jn a premier sporting competition?

I can see your point of view and respect it. We are all at a level where we want to see results and it is heart breaking to see us not moving forward. I'm starting to believe no one can fix the joint myself.

However I don't follow these muppets who have thier nose in the troff but the mighty tigers and the tremendous history. There is no better or greater supporter than a tigers supporter and they can go and fk themselves.

I appreciate supporters like you who keep pushing for excellence. Don't give up we need you.

I wonder whether benji is planning a holiday in the next weeks.

It’s amazing that these guys suddenly have coaching aspirations.
Do we have a high performance coach? If so he probably has no background in sports psychology. Aaron Payne has more coaching experience than Benji.

Do I need to have any expertise in “coaching elite athletes in a premiership sporting competition” to point out to Richo that Benji is struggling and needs help? I think the performance of the squad over the year emphatically answers that question.

We don’t know which side is going to turn up. I can cop losses, but not no improvement.

And you put words in my mouth, I never quite said i wanted to tutor him.

If I didn’t want to help him, I’d just call for his sacking. 23% success rate, worst in the comp. I’m not sure permitting him to muddle through with his current Benji program is working and indeed his assistants in their role might not be adding the value we or even Benji expected.

Feel free to write to Richo and back Benji to the enth-maybe you will get a response my friend 😎!!!

Wests Tigers will give any or all of them a go I reckon ! which is why they come to us. WT's are very generous... as you say Aaron Payne is not a WT although I must say Aaron Payne is not doing so well with his team is he !

And where is his team on the ladder?….

All this crap about coaches is just that…we overrate the role of a coach in the W/L column… it’s about the cattle you have rather than the coach… put Robinson or Bellamy in charge of this WT team and they would be at around the same position on the ladder

I most respectfully doubt it.

Robbo and Bellamy, their sides tend to aim up and have done so for many years.

Plus they have a big role in retention and recruitment.

That said, I think you are completely right that some players are less reliant on coaches because they find a way anyway.

South’s and the eels, good examples of the wheels falling off with different coaches.

I would kill to find out what Robbo and Bellamy would do with us if they walked in next week!

Selections, game plans, the works.

Although I’m not a big fan of Bellamy’s childish public tantrums. Not good for kids etc.

All the experience in the world wont help you if you only have dud players. Ask Payne.
We need speed!
We need speed!
Then coach them to play better!
That's the backline solved.
We then need big bodies in the front row and 80 min. goers backing them up. Simple!
To get there shop for the above 1. A tackle busting prop. 2 An 80 min back rower or two 3. Some speed in the backline. GO SHOP. eg. some young rep. players that fit the bill or KOE players of the week type? We need a few forwards and a few backs to help Luai next year.
I'm sure you are hard at it. Not easy to coax players to come to WT I would imagine.

Jack Gibson said " if you don't have the cattle forget it".

I respectfully disagree TY, because whilst the functions of coaching are the same across all teams, the nuances are not.
And that’s where your Bellamy’s, Bennetts, Robinsons and Clearys excel.
They look at the issues and see alternative solutions. There understanding of players is deep and they quite often see things that others do not.
It may only be a tweak here or there but they would make a difference.
Sure, they need good cattle as well, but whilst putting that together they can adjust the major floors to see an instant difference.
This was something that Ciraldo couldn’t do initially at the Dogs, coz I don’t think he knew how. Now he’s got better players it’s slowly coming together. As it would for Benji.
But my point is that if one of the Big4 had gone in, they would have had a faster and greater impact on the exisiting players. That’s the difference imo.
